Is there a way to change the color of the subtitles on JW.org videos?

Recommended Posts

Not sure where else to put this. But I use subtitles because reading is easier than listening for me in some cases. It seems the default color is white, which could cause issues as shown . This comes from "Can the bible really help you" video https://www.jw.org/finder?srcid=jwlshare&wtlocale=E&lank=docid-502100022_1_VIDEO . you can see the subtitles slightly on his legs. The white can be an issue in other videos as well when the background is light or clashes in some way.

Actually I've had the same problem. But I don't think you can.

Heres an example of it clashing even when it's on a colored background, with Brother Lett's shirt, yeah I know what it says but meh. (I'm hoping someone runs into this thread that can do something about it, hence why i'm posting this after realizing nothing can be done)  https://www.jw.org/finder?srcid=jwlshare&wtlocale=E&lank=pub-jwbvod25_9_VIDEO

If you are using a mobile device (iPhone, Android) or tablet (iPad, Pixel), subtitle customization for both the jw.org website and the JW Library app is managed by your device’s system subtitle settings.

If you are using a computer, subtitles in the JW Library app are controlled by your computer’s system settings, while subtitles on jw.org can be customized either through your computer’s system settings or your web browser.

You can also use the JW Web Add-on if you are using a computer or an Android device to customize subtitles on jw.org.

Let me know if you need help locating the customization.

Thanks, I'll dig into this a bit later and let you know how it goes <3

Does this add-on work for JWLibrary - or just jw.org website?

I usually watch the videos in the app, not on the website

Just on the website, hence a web add-on. I wish I can do it in the app, but I can't because it is strictly handled by the computer system unless the organization add a feature to allow customization just like Netflix and Disney Plus.

I don't recall ever having that problem. I prefer using subtitles too. But if I'm playing a video on my Windows PC, I use VLC Media Player and the subtitles option. Here's what I see:

Or, does VLC automatically colour the subtitles so they don't get in the way?

How are you using VLC to watch the videos? Is there...(opens up vlc) Nope that didn't work. How did you do this? Only reason why i rather use the app or vlc over the website is becasue i like my media on a different program than what i'm doing other things on if that makes sense.

My system is set associating mp4 video files and mp3 audio files to automatically open in VLC. Here's how to do that:

In Windows Settings, select Apps, then Default Apps. Type in mp4 or mp3. It will show which app will automatically show the video or audio file. Change the default app if necessary to VLC media player.

Is that what you wanted to know?

To turn on the subtitles in a video:

Right-click the video, and select Subtitle. Then select Sub track, and Track 1 - [English].

So you're downloading the files?
