JWLibrary - Can it handle internal links?

Recommended Posts

In notes you can add links, such as….

https://jwtalk.net/forum/48-computers-tablets-mobile-devices-apps/?do=add

.. and you can “Open Link”

I would like to add a link to an Obsidian note, such as…

obsidian://open?vault=Thomas&file=2%20Areas%2FDaily%20Notes%2F2025-05-22

However, JWLibrary does not recognize this as a link.

Is there anyway to make this happen?

   Thanks

Yeah, it won’t. JW Library Notes is for basic text only. The reason links are recognized in Notes isn’t because of the app, but because of the operating system you’re using. For example, on an iPad or iPhone, the operating system automatically recognizes links—not the JW Library app itself. Most links that start with “https://” are recognized automatically. But links that start like “obsidian://” or “jwlibrary://” aren’t, because these are called deep links. Deep links require a manual trigger, which must be handled by the application itself. For instance, “jwlibrary://” links are only recognized and handled by JW Library; other applications will not recognize them.

Since you mention that, could we have a web app (even locally) that would receive the link as "http..." and then open the required jwlibray or obsidian link?

Jayrtom, thats the spirit!

(I have learned that you cannot really say “it wont work” with computers. There is always a way)

I was thinking that if you add the http prefix JWlibrary would recognize it and send it out, then some rule to grab it and redirect it locally.

A bit of work around but it may be worth it.

Just to clarify, what platform are we talking about? there are too many platforms: Windows, iOS, Android, etc. and they all act differently so my comment might not be suitable on some platforms.
