Does God exist? Modern science shows he must, bestseller argues

Recommended Posts

Interesting article.

We have a local elder who is considered a "scientist" in the field of electrical and computer engineering. He taught abought 30 years at the University of Florida.

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has published more that 180 research articles in prestigious international archival publications as well as three books and has given numerous conference presentations in the areas of his research in multivariable and computer control systems, communications and internetworking and innovative educational technologies.

Of course, his best teaching is in the congregation and as a key speaker at several Conventions and serving as a substitute CO and a remote Bethelite.

A comment on the word "scientist":

In a more literal sense of the word (as opposed to an advanced "schooling" notion of the word), Jehovah made all of us who maintain curious minds scientists. We are by nature "wired" to learn and explore our surroundings (at least at the start of their lives—some eventually stopping asking themselves deeper questions as they get older). Simply seeking answers to questions from the natural world is exactly what scientist do in their preferred area of interest. They basically never leave 'school'—doggedly pursuing what interests them until they arrive at an answer based accumulated evidence. (Or at least the most plausible/reasonable answer given the information available at the time.) 😊🧐

I do believe the word "scientist" was being used in the secular sense in this thread

Sometimes the argument presented by scientists, who have no great interest in the worship of God, can give insight into how best to answer questions in our ministry about there being a God. Some scientists, like Michael Behe, present information about intelligence required for the formation of living organisms, but they do not link this to a creator.

Michael-Yves Bollore may present a good case, but he cannot supply answers to all important and fundamental questions, like, 'Why are we here?', 'what is the purpose of life?', 'why do we grow old and die?'.  Science and God may prove to sit together, through his writings, but he is unlikely to link in sin, to the cause of problems.

The approach is definitely different.

We do not even expect them to bring in such theological concepts since they are using a scientific lens. There are definitely questions that cannot be answered by science. We have to look into the scriptures for answers to those kind of questions.

What we need those scientists for is to expose the weaknesses of scientific knowledge and the gaps therein. That could move rightly disposed ones to seek the answers where they could be found.

True, but we must be careful that they do not become a crutch to our faith.

If someone ask me does God exist. My answer will be that there are trillions of galaxies out there. I can add that we have chocolate too.

Chocolate is bitter without a lot of sugar.
Even nowadays, the big companies use millions of children to supply chocolate to the whole world.

I'm happy it's also available in Portuguese. But I'm sad because it's veeeery expensive. It's going on my wish list for the day I can afford it. The book here is around US$101.68.
