Direction on Gofundme

Someone asked me about posting a gofundme. I feel like I remember a letter or something recently that covered that, but now I cannot find it.Anyone have an idea where I can find that?

I don’t have the info but I remember an announcement as well.

Still see friends using it though. 
I don’t know that it’s “wrong”.  I think the intent behind the announcement is to avoid people taking advantage of others, pressure to give and to maintain dignity in situations.
Technically speaking, I believe the order for helping is: relatives, group, congregation, available programs, etc.

However, I can see how it’s helpful in certain situations too.
I’ve even seen friends put the call out for anyone willing to donate an organ.

I didn’t then, but I was asked again yesterday.

At the regional convention in 2019 it was mentioned that we should not start a GoFundMe campaign for others, especially without their knowledge. The point was not that using GoFundMe is wrong, just that we should not embarrass our brothers telling others about their problems and situations. There is no objection to start a GoFundMe for yourself if you wish.

Thanks for the reminder, Carlos. It is also good to make sure that others are aware of all of the details about the funding requirement a brother or sister sets up, as these matters can be unclear sometimes as to purpose.
