One if my husband's relatives was born white and died, shorty after as black, A midwife on PEI  delivered a baby to an evidently caucasian mother and listed the baby accordingly. That child died days later and the father carried the remains to the coroner who looked at the dad and listed the baby from that. My late husband's 1940 birth certificate says "colored,"

When the Titanic had an accident at sea, reports went out that there were NO casualties. Even newspapers like the Boston Globe praised this mistaken conclusion. Halifax prepared a rescue ship for the survivors and planned a parade.  Soon they found out this would become a death ship. Many Titanic bodies are buried there, in Canada.

Winslow and Bradford, who were among the first English settlers who left England and sailed on the Mayflower in the 1620s, were both writers of their adventures. Their written documents explain that they found a wood house, a palisade fence, metalware and the grave of a blonde man and a child, concluding that European settlers had been to Massachusetts earlier than they.

In 2008, an opulent grave was uncovered in Valencia, Spain  with a skeleton inside, dating back  to  the copper age (near the end of the Pharoahs.) It was assumed to be a man of great wealth and leadership. THC (marijuana) was entombed along with evidence of great  wealth. 15 years later, the teeth convinced researchers  that it was actually a woman. Reclassifying the Ivory man as the Ivory lady has led to re-examining other remains and numerous results of others previously identified as male have been reidentified as female. This discovery of the Ivory lady is thought to be the earliest example of  marijuana use. Several generations are believed to have continued to visit and honor this unknown personage after her demise.

In high school, my German class had to translate Wilhelm Tell (German to English.) This story about a Swiss man shooting an apple (yada yada) was beyond  the level of linguistics we had learned. So we all used trots (cliff notes for language translations)and I wasn't in the truth yet, so it was part of group cheating.  Actually, the whole  story is a cheat.  There is no indication that such a person ever lived, and my German is as faulty as all my other language attempts.

palisade fence

A palisade fence is defined as a type of fencing made from vertically aligned stakes or pales, typically constructed from wood or steel, that are attached to horizontal rails.

These fences are designed to serve as a physical and psychological deterrent against intruders, often featuring pointed tops for added security.

The term "palisade" originates from the Latin word "palus," meaning "stake," and historically referred to a series of stakes used for enclosure or fortification.

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool 🎨for creativity. It causes a rush 🌊 of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

What is an Egyptian Cartouche?

A cartouche, when related to ancient Egypt, is defined as an oval-like hieroglyph (meaning ''sacred writing'') that depicts the name of a sovereign. They were usually drawn as a vertical oval with a horizontal line on the bottom, giving it a plaque-like shape and structure.

Originally called ''Shenu''  by Egyptians, cartouches are considered an elongated version of the earlier Shen ring, which was a circular hieroglyph representing ''unending encircling protection.'' The cartouche was used for over 2,000 years to label the tombs of pharaohs and other important Egyptians with relevant information about the deceased.

What myths taught by an educator or mis-educator caught you?

When people say, “Wear a coat or you’ll catch a cold,” they’re repeating an old idea that sounds reasonable but isn’t accurate. A cold comes from one thing — exposure to a virus. Without a virus present, no amount of cold air can create an infection.

Now, notice the balance. Cold weather can influence the body, but not in the way the myth suggests. When we’re chilled for long periods, the body narrows blood vessels in the nose and extremities to preserve warmth in the vital organs. That narrowing can reduce the flow of immune cells to the nasal passages. What do we learn? If a virus is already present in the environment, that temporary change might make infection slightly easier. But the cold air itself is never the cause.

Masks and coats do different things entirely. A mask can reduce the spread of respiratory droplets when someone nearby is infected. A coat simply maintains body temperature and prevents stress on the system. They’re not competing tools; they serve different purposes.

And one more point that deserves clarity: heat does not escape the head faster than every other body part. That idea came from one flawed study decades ago. In reality, the body loses heat from any area that’s uncovered. If your hands, chest, or legs are exposed, heat escapes just as quickly from those places.

So the safe, balanced takeaway is this: staying warm is wise for comfort and overall health, but you do not get sick from cold air. Illness only comes from viruses. Understanding that difference protects us from being misled by old sayings and keeps our decisions grounded in what is true.

The gunfight at OK corral did not happen at the corral. Also, gunfights were uncommon on western streets. Most cowboys were injured in barroom brawls. Those cowboys: 25  percent were of African descent, (some former slaves)and a significant  number of cowboys were of Spanish conquistador extraction.

For years upon years people believed ulcers were caused by stress and stomach probs. More recently, it was discovered that a bacteria named h pylori was the cause of 99 or more percent of ulcers. When I developed ulcers, tests proved no h pylori in sight. "Cut down on stress and other stomach probs."
