JWTime or Only-T as a timer for the congregation?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,
I’m new here on JWTalk and this is the first topic I’ve opened, so I hope I chose the right section.

I wanted to ask for your opinion about two apps to use in the congregation: JWTime and Only-T.

I saw that JWTime is available in the official Microsoft Store and, from what I’ve been able to understand, it seems quite simple to use and has some interesting features. However, I also know that Only-T has been around for much longer, so I imagine many of you already know it well and perhaps have been using it for years.

I would be glad to know if anyone here is familiar with JWTime or has had the opportunity to try both solutions.

In your opinion, which one do you think is more practical for a congregation?

Thanks in advance to everyone for any advice.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Following the advice I received here, I started trying both JWTime and Only-T side by side in practical use.

I thought I would share my impressions, as they might also be useful to others in the future who want to compare the two apps and understand which one may fit their congregation better.

I started by trying Only-T first, as I was advised to do here on the forum, and overall it seemed to me like a good piece of software: simple, lightweight, and immediate to use.
I also liked the fact that it is part of a wider suite, with additional tools that can be useful.
For its purpose, it seemed well made to me and probably very suitable for those who are looking for something essential and quick to use.
I also appreciated that some features are very well handled from a practical and customization point of view.

Among the things I liked about Only-T, I would mention:

  • dedicated app

  • more customizable opening countdown

  • portable version

  • wider ecosystem with other tools from the same suite

Then, after trying JWTime, I found some things that I personally appreciated in practical use:

  • ability to send messages to the speaker

  • ability to change the duration of a part at any time, even while it is already in progress, with immediate automatic adjustment

  • a real pause button, useful when moving from one part to the next without affecting the real time used by the part itself

  • a dedicated one-minute section for the chairman’s counsel after student assignments

  • manual schedules that can be saved and recalled when needed

  • the possibility to use the Congregation Bible Study and the Watchtower Study as “buffer” parts, adapting only those automatically based on the time already used

  • immediate indication of whether you are ahead of schedule or running late

  • full part titles, and if desired, always visible

  • dedicated time for songs as well

  • offline mode, with the possibility of downloading upcoming weeks in advance

  • a dedicated section for meeting recording

The thing that currently convinces me less about JWTime, at least from a personal preference point of view, is the customization of the timer screen, which in some respects I still prefer in Only-T.

As a general impression, at the moment JWTime seems more complete to me in some practical aspects of use, although Only-T still seems very strong to me for its simplicity, customization in some areas, and wider ecosystem.

Of course, these are only my first practical impressions. If I notice other interesting differences, I will be happy to update the thread.
