JW Sync (Alpha) - Testing some new features (Sharing, Exporting, and more)

Hello friends,

First, I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has used JW Sync and offered such kind feedback. Because a few of you had some really great ideas for making the tool more useful, I've been quietly tinkering with a few new features.

To make sure I don't break the main website that everyone is currently using, I have set up a separate "Alpha" testing link. This is a work-in-progress version where we can test these new ideas together.

Here are the new features you can test out:

🤝 Extract & Share (Privacy First)

Sometimes you want to share your Regional Convention notes with a friend or spouse, but you don't want to send them your entire backup file with all your personal study notes.

Now, you can select specific tags (like "Convention") or a specific date. The tool will safely strip away everything else and create a tiny, shareable backup file containing only those specific notes. Your private notes stay completely private.

📥 Export Your Notes (TXT, CSV, HTML)

If you ever wanted to print your notes or back them up on your computer, you can now click "Peek Inside" to view them, and export them into a text document or spreadsheet. It will even include the source (like the Bible book or article) where you took the note.

🏷️ Tag Manager & Auto-Tagging

If your tags are a bit messy, you can now use simple drop-down menus to merge them together or rename them. Also, when bringing over a backup from a second device, you can now tell the tool to automatically attach a tag (like "From Old iPad") to all the imported notes so you can easily find them later.

🎨 Bulk Color Changer

If you ever decide to change your personal color-coding system (for example, wanting all your "Yellow" highlights to now be "Blue"), there is a new setting that lets you update them all at once, saving you from having to change them one by one in the app.

Deep Clean & Study Stats

I added a "Deep Clean" option that quietly sweeps away old, broken "ghost" data to help your JW Library app run a little faster. You'll also notice a new "Stats" button that brings up a simple chart showing your most-used tags and highlight colors.

If you would like to help me test these features, you can try the Alpha version here:

https://jwsyncalpha.tiiny.site

Because this is a test version, please let me know if you run into any bugs or if something doesn't make sense. I've tried to keep the screen as clean and simple as possible so it isn't overwhelming.

I hope these new tools might be a small help in your personal study. Agape!

As it's a simple unencrypted html Page it is as to open as can be. You could copy the Page and run it locally offline if you chose

I tried out your app. It has some nice features but...

  • it is quite slow for me
  • I was especially interested in being able to manage tags. Right now I have over 750. Your UI did not allow me to do anything useful in this area - see image. Since I cannot see the entire tag, I cannot begin to make any decisions about it.

Thank you for sharing the issue that you had. I have tried to remedy this. Tag name should no longer be truncated and also there is a filter so you can search for certain tags as well as breaking the tags up and lots of 50 so that you can scroll through them. Hopefully this should stream a lot faster for you. Unfortunately, the multi-language support has caused quite a bit of memory usage, but I feel it's important to make it more accessible to as many people as possible.
