Want to learn baking

Been meaning to learn baking. I know nothing about it but we have a microwave at home for months doing nothing.

Does anyone know a site where I can practice basic baking skills like bread, etc until I become experienced. Please basic baking for now.

I don't know anything about baking but I'm pretty sure you won't need a microwave to bake ..

I've baked bread in an air fryer before, I found it just as effective as an oven, but baking bread is not my speciality, so take this with a grain of salt. I know it's also possible to bake bread on an open stove 🤔 but I think you just need a tight lid for the pot to trap the heat.. this is probably harder to do and control.. Oh and I would be careful with baking bread or anything else in a microwave.. not all baking ingredients can go inside a microwave. Some YouTube videos might say otherwise, but the outcome will most likely not be good. Whatever method you choose to use to bake it eg. oven, open stove, air fryer etc, add that to the search on YouTube, so you find the specific video that meets your needs and supports your method.

You will not get a good result in a microwave. 

Follow a reliable recipe, allow the dough to prove (rise) covered by a cloth, and in a warm place, gently knead again and leave to rise again, then bake in an oven as directed.

One thing to remember about baking ... it is more of a science than "cooking". Measurements matter with baking more than they do with plain cooking.

 

Bread can be simple and forgiving but can also be quite challenging when trying to get certain textures and results.

 

I have been baking bread as well as many other foods for way longer than you are old.

 

For a fairly simple bread to make - here is a video - keep in mind, though fairly simple, the measurements and steps are critical to get good results. I don't know that this will work in a microwave oven, though

 

How Microwave Bread Works

• Cooking time: Takes about 3 to 6 minutes on high power instead of 30+ minutes.
• No crust: Microwaves do not get hot enough to brown the outside or create a hard crust.
• Texture: The bread turns out soft, spongy, and similar to a steamed bun.
• Limitation: Standard microwaves cannot bake traditional yeast-raised loaves well unless they have a special convection mode
