Juicing

Recommended Posts

I thought we had a juicing thread,I can't find it...I can't chew food right now and I wondered from those who juice what do you do with the left over pulp? Do you just eat it? Like a mushy veggie salad?

Do you make soup? Or do you discard all the fiber and just drink the juice?

Hi Nancy, Sorry to hear you can't chew "normal food" for now. Juice pulp is really hard to use for anything, even as a thickener for soup, the flavor and texture makes for a really nasty vegetable salad.

We use the pulp in our compost tumbler, along with stem cuttings, cucumber and vegetable peelings etc. The end results after about 4 weeks are a fine sweet smelling soil that we reuse indoors for growing wheat-grass and micro-green flats. Back in May we were discussing juicing using slow-masticating juicers, under the topic Achieving Maximum Health, High energy levels and Disease reversal, going back the topic is on the 2nd. page under Food and Drink.

Also if you have a dehydrator, there are some scrumptious recipes on-line for making delectable inexpensive raw snacks using juice pulp as your base ingredient. If you have a chance next time you are at Whole Foods, check out the raw foods section, there you will find a nice variety of dehydrated organic crunchy raw food snacks...Delicious! :chef:

I toss mine but depending on what youv'e juiced I've heard people say they put it in soup and meatloaf.I usually juice a recipe called mean green and it has fruits and veggies in it and it just doesnt seem like it would be good in a soup or meatloaf
