Restorante Night

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago my wife found out that the brother & sister who are our current apt bdg managers never had a proper 25th anniversary - thus she decided to give them a surprise-a much belated 25th ( 3 years 6 months 20 days late -we didn't know them then ).

It was Italian Night -gluten free all the way.

Since we were going to paint our living room anyway and had to move stuff out-we took the opportunity to make a little bistro of our livingroom -4 tables, menus, drink menus, waitresses, chef and Maitre'D ( moi - but tux vest and jacket are too small now :blushing: )

Started out with 18 "diners" and 4 "staff" :welcome:

Here is our menu all Lasania and breads were gluten free -noodles were purchased - bread sticks, and everything else were homemade from scratch except Gelato and soup broth.

ANTI-PASTI (APPETIZERS)

ARANCINI

Lightly fried balls of risotto stuffed with mushrooms & mozzarella, served with or without tomato sauce.

BRUSHETTA AL FORNO

A classic dish consisting of a toasted Italian baguette topped a freshly made tomato relish and grated mozzarella cheese

ZUPPA & INSALATA (SOUP & SALAD)

ZUPPA DI GIORNO - Today’s fresh made vegetable soup

INSALATA DI CASA - A house specialty of fresh greens, cucumbers, sweet bell peppers, green onions, shredded carrots & sliced radishes topped with your choice of Zesty or Creamy Italian dressing.

PASTA

LASAGNA AL POLO ALFREDO

Fresh baked lasagna layered with chicken, spinach, ricotta & mozzarella cheese.

LASAGNA AL FORNO

Fresh baked lasagna layered with a lovely beef & Italian sausage tomato sauce, ricotta, mozzarella & parmesan cheese.

DOLCE (Dessert)

TIRAMISU

LEMON GELATO

TIRAMISU CHEESCAKE

Smooth Mascarpone cheese folded with fresh cream and espresso layered between light ladyfinger biscuits.

Of course there was the usual wines, etc., we even ended up with a few unopened bottles for next time ( I don't drink alcohol -it no like my stomach :coffee: )

Party was a real surprise for the couple -and it went over very well. Even the 3 Italians who enjoyed it said dishes were very authentic ( soup was a little salty 'from beef broth' to be real old country Italian.) Tiramisu was right on -much better than store bought.

We have found out that properly done ( follow recipes exactly ) gluten free is tastier than wheat pasta and bread plus it sticks with you longer without that heavy feeling.

I look to actually getting more than a taste from the left overs. YUMMMMMMM !!!!!! (<img src=)'>

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!
