What's for Dinner?

Recommended Posts

I am having a hot toddy for the 5th night in a row. I have pneumonia and can not eat anything because it takes to much oxygen to breath and chew at the same time. My friend made one for me After the first day of the circuit assembly. I started getting sick then and missed Sunday's program. Monday went to the doctor and dxed with pneumonia, five days without food and I am net hungry yet

Thankful to be among friends everyday!

Oh,so sorry to hear that Leslie ...I've had several bouts of pneumonia and have been hospitalized for it, no fun at all.

Take it really easy , rest is most important.

I'm just recovering from gastroenteritis  (now known to be bacterial food poisoning - darn those chicken livers!) so no spicy food for me at the moment! :( I have lost nearly 4Kg in the past two weeks!

Tonight is an old-fashioned corned-beef hash, last night was poached haddock fillet with sauteed potatoes. Doctor told me to eat normally, and thankfully the stomach cramps have subsided. I don't want to risk anything too spicy yet.

After the recent horsemeat sold as beef scandal in Europe, I quite fancy one of these:

Thanks Mrs Musky!

I was taken to emergency hospital because I was so dehydrated and put on a drip, but slowly I'm getting a bit better. I haven't been dressed for nearly two weeks and bedridden for most of that time!

I really appreciate your good wishes.

Yes, I do! It takes 15 minutes to cook, very easy and also healthy. (I'm really lazy ) Mix together: 250 gram of fresh cheese, 1 egg 1/2 glass of flour 1 tablespoon of sugar (not really necessary) pinch of salt

151352=8303-2.jpg Make 2 rolls and cut them on small pieces.

151352=8304-4.jpg

151352=8305-5.jpg Cook in a boiled salty water for about 5 min and take out with a slotted spoon (You can also freeze them and cook later) Serve with a lot of fresh butter, sour cream and sugar. :eat:

...absolute rubbish...

That's great. I found out the cheese here in the US is Farmers cheese not cream cheese which will be better. I'll try it again for my son. He likes plain noodles and things like me so I think he'll like the lazy dumplings.

So what does omniscient and omnipresent have to do with dumplings?

So what does omniscient and omnipresent have to do with dumplings?

I didn't google this recipe before posting and didn't know the name of this dish in English before you said it.

Then I googled "dumplings" and found this recipe already translated and it is exactly like mine!

I got surprised and disappointed I thought I'm soooo unique, but Google knows everything :laugh:

Hi Svetlana. I agree these are yummy. Your pics made my mouth water! I always use farmer cheese since it's drier then cottage cheese. I'll use large curd cottage cheese in a jiffy if money is tight. I just try to drain the liquid as much as possible. I don't make these too often because I make alot of varenyky. I think since Oct. 2012 until today, I've made well over 1600 varenyky and yshka. Also made Chinese dumplings.

The varieties I make are "yshka"-just ends connected together and they look like tortolinni, using dried European mushrooms (rehydrated) and sauted with fresh brown (Crimini) mushrooms with a little onion.

The varieties I've made are:

fresh mashed potato & farmer cheese, my father's favorite

fresh mashed potato & onion, everyone's favorite

fresh mashed potato and cheddar cheese, everyones favorite

dried fruit (rehydrated) mixed with cinnamon and pinch of nutmeg and sugar (everyone favorite)

groung beef & pork with onion (but I don't cook the meat before I stuff) my sister's favorite

sauted onion and saurkraut with sweet cabbage

Today, I had lots of corned beef and cabbage I roasted (yes it's better then boiled) from the other day left and so I mixed a batch of sauted saurkraut, onion & sweet cabbage with the corn.beef and added extra of the cabbage I had left and voila!

I've made seafood varenyky and next month I will be making some with fig & mozzarella cheese for that Italian/Mediterranean taste.

I also made over 100 qts of Borscht

I wondered if you might want to share what your having for dinner.Or what you had already, depending on where you are on this planet.

We're having....

Whole wheat spaghetti

mini meatballs

Veggie salad

Fruit

Anybody else

They are talking about 5-inches of snow this weekend, so it's Meatloaf! Here's my recipe if anyone is interested. (the rice and oats stretch it out a bit and add flavor, I raised 5 boys on this!)

1 cup tomato sauce

½ cup Maull’s BBQ sauce

1-cup Oats

1-cup Minute Rice

1- Onion Chopped

1- Green Pepper chopped

1- pkg Onion Soup mix

2 -eggs

1 tbl granulated sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

dash garlic powder

3 pounds ground beef (sirloin or low-fat)

½ cup Maull’s (topping)

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Combine all ingredients into large bowl. Thoroughly mix with hands.

3. Load the meat into a loaf pan (preferably a meatloaf pan with two sections which allows the fat to drain, but if you don't have one of those a regular loaf pan will work). Wrap foil over the pan and place it into the oven for 30 minutes.

4. After 30 minutes, take the meatloaf from the oven, remove the foil and, if you aren't using a meatloaf pan, drain the fat.

5. Using a knife, slice the meatloaf all the way through into 8 slices while it is still in the pan. This will help to cook the center of the meatloaf. Pour the remaining ½ cup Maull’s BBQ Sauce over the top of the meatloaf, in a stream down the center. Don't spread the sauce.

6. Place the meatloaf back into the oven, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes or until it is done. Remove and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.
