Suspect arraigned in shooting at Eugene-area Jehovah's Witness hall

LOWELL, Ore. -- The man fatally shot inside a Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall late Wednesday once filed for a restraining order against the alleged killer.

Investigators said they still don't know what led Robert "Riley" Gonzales, 34, to allegedly walk into Kingdom Hall and fatally shoot his wife's ex-husband, 47-year-old Kenneth Mort. But eight years ago, Mort sought a restraining order against Gonzales, The Register-Guard newspaper reported.

This story came to its conclusion in Feburary of 2011. Robert Riley Gonzales pleaded guilty to the murder and to four kidnapping charges and was sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder. Other charges were later dropped.
