  1. So many potential couples will have benefit from that part on marital advice. What a gift!
  2. I heard about and downloaded the iPhone app called launch center. It just makes accessing all apps and phone functions easier. I'm slowly configuring it but I was curious if anyone else is using it, but more pointedly, how you have set yours up? Have any pictures? The only thing I'm really disappointed about is that it appears our JW Library app does not yet have an"Url Scheme" needed to enter the Library App's functions into the launcher app. If anyone has discovered otherwise, please let me know.
  3. My family and I are moving from the midsouth (near Memphis Tennessee) to an area with Mountains and nature. The move is still sometime out, but I'm researching places we may visit for a look-see. Many mountainous areas are arid and dry, which we don't prefer. I've lived around lush greenery all my life, and it is very hard to give that up. So two areas we are considering are the Asheville area in western North Carolina. We have visited there several times. We really like it. The other area I've just discovered is Hood River Oregon, near Mount Hood. It is a VERY interesting place. I've seen one Kingdom-hall in a street view on Google. I wonder if there are anymore? We would prefer to move to an area that has a need for support in the congregation/s. That is one reason I've ruled out a couple of other areas. If you happen to be in, or very near Hood River Oregon, please send me a message. It is hard to get objective feed back about a place from the internet. We'll visit eventually, and it would be nice to know a friend there ahead of time. Alternatively, please just share your thoughts about the area here.
  4. Such an example can show young ones how valuable a theocratic career should be to all of us. A brother I knew many years ago came into the truth in high school. He graduated as the veledictorian of his school and was offered a fully paid scholarship to Harvard, Yale, etc., all the best Univiersities in the country. He turned them all down and turned in his application to regular Pioneer. Meeting him ten years later, I was inspired, as were many young people who heard about his example. To this day, (decades later) he is one of the happiest and most content brothers I've ever met.

How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
I was raised in the truth. I received no pressure from my parents to dedicate myself to Jehovah, only encouragement and good examples. Good and faithful association also helped me appreciate the treasure that is Jehovah's visible organization. In my mid teens I made the decision in my own heart to be baptized, out of love for God. Pioneering and then serving at Bethel for several years in the 90's affirmed everything I believed about Jehovah's visible organization, and tempered me into a better Christian. I have developed a hatred for Apostasy of any type, and a deep longing for the new world to come as soon as possible.

My Hobbies & Interests

  • My Interests
The truth, my wife and son, nature (mountains and forests!), nutritional eating as a lifestyle, science fiction, reading voraciously, a very wide variety of music, travel, architecture, simple living, gardening, astronomy, snow boarding and skiing, hiking, camping, more travel, etc. I am an outdoors person at heart. I love nature with a passion.
  • My favorite books
I have read well over a thousand. Recently I read "Eat to Live". Much of my reading has been science fiction.
  • My favorite music
I like MANY types. My favorites are vocal trance/dance/electronica, acoustic instrumental, movie soundtracks, and certain rare pieces of Jazz.

I also love oldies, 30's and 40's stuff, classical, some opera, dance pop, indie.. and so on.
