  1. I think repentance can be a painful journey, as in the case of Manasseh, brought home to him, sitting in the dungeon, just how seriously he'd sinned, and many have identified with that, coming to the truth from a prison cell; or it can be an immediate recognition of wrong, as in Saul's case on the road to Damascus. In both cases though, the repentance was genuine and involved a complete turn around and repudiation of all they'd done before. Because of that, Manasseh was restored to his throne, and Saul became Paul, the apostle to the nations.
  2. No, he can combine justice with love and mercy, for example; deserved judgement with undeserved kindness, depending on the circumstances. Manasseh absolutely merited, and had worked hard to earn, his punishment. In fact he should have been put to death for sacrificing his children to the Baals, it was outright murder. But because he was genuine in his repentance, Jehovah balanced that with forgiveness. David was also granted forgiveness, but at the same time he didn't escape Jehovah's judgement in that it affected his family for the rest of his life.
  3. It's cold here 10.30 in the morning and 5% centigrade. A damp, penetrating cold today.
  4. I love ChatGPT! Not for study, but if I want to know the source of a quote; I've read one line in a poem for example, or where and when an ancient writer said this or that, and is the quote correct... It's a brilliant tool for checking the authenticity. It's great too for science questions and so much more. And it talks to me like a real person, asking me if I want more information etc, I find myself saying thank you as if it is! 😂😂😂😂
  5. That's true. And it's because they didn't look at what the Bible itself says: the light of understanding would get brighter. So they lost faith in Jehovah's promises, which means they lost faith in Jehovah himself. Not for nothing did Jesus say " the one who has endured to the end will be saved".
  6. It was on the news here that food banks are being forced to cut the amount of food being distributed as they are struggling to meet demand with less supplies available.
  7. Who knew? You don't get retirement pay after you die? 🤣
  8. I would say, in answer to your question re being in a coma for instance, a person who is a Jehovah's witness is someone who has devoted themselves to Jehovah, has worked faithfully in his service, and is still one of Jehovah's witnesses even when now totally incapacitated. In Jehovah's eyes, their situation hasn't changed. And wouldn't the fact that, when they were previously able to fill in a medical directive, still be furnishing a witness even though they can't now speak?
  9. So you actually think a faithful servant of Jehovah who has suffered a medical emergency and is in a coma is no longer considered one of Jehovah's witnesses? That doesn't line up with what the bible says regarding how Jehovah feels about his people, in all situations and circumstances.
  10. That's such good news! We're all so happy for you 🥰🌹
  11. At the end of the day, not commenting on any particular diet (and I like meat, but try to eat more veggies and be moderate with the amount of meat) , I wonder who of us in the new world will be able to look in the eyes of a trusting animal and slit it's throat for the table? And I can't imagine horrible slaughter houses existing, so it's going to need to be a personal act 😜 Not a comment on what we'll eat, just on who could bring themselves to do it. Having said that, my Dad was a farmer, so he'd probably have no problem and we could all eat at his house! 😂
  12. The only delay will be from our perspective. Jehovah has an appointed time, a set day, it won't be late. That's the certainty that keeps us going.
  13. Actually I only want to know one thing.... what are wing dings? 😂😂😂
