  1. Starting as assistant (householder) is a great way to start. When you are ready you can move on to the publisher role. Would you give the part with anyone you are assigned with? Or would prefer someone you are more comfortable with? Speak with them about it, and with the overseer. Maybe he can assign your first few assignments with that person(s). Also some parts are only a 1 or 2 minutes long. You could be assigned one of these short parts. Another way is stand in as a volunteer at short notice. Might sound strange, but the time between receiving the assignment and giving it, can make some worry and anxious. This way, you don't have time to worry about it.
  2. Using assembly location for the convention next year. There will be 3 at the MK Arena, not using the main stadium, the smaller inside arena. No London Excel next year. 2 at Surrey assembly hall, and another at the North London assembly hall.
  3. Looked this up on the UK's DVLA website. The reg plate JW ORG is not available, but some come close. JW72 ORG is available for £314, J777 ORG for £167.
  4. I did have a modified version that worked with XP. A hybrid collection of files that combined the publications data from the latest update with the last XP compatible version of WTL. And it worked well. But even that broke with an update from 2021. (I think the 2107 update). From limited testing it seems to be something to do with a change to the NWT and Study Bible files, and I don't have older update packages, or the inclination to keep a version going for XP anymore.
  5. I don't understand why the branch recommends VLC or insists on it. I could never get it to work seemlessly or smoothly on the second screen like other player like OnlyM. Many congregations I know don't use it.
  6. You can download the JW Library APK file directly from jw.org JW Library
  7. When you share Screen 2 for the first time, move the Zoom share toolbar from screen 2 to your main monitor.
  8. No, it's this one. Looks similar. i5, 16GB, 512GB SSD HP ProDesk 400 G7 Small Form Factor with i5 - HP Store UK It has HDMI, DisplayPort, and another optional port (so possible second HDMI for three monitors). 5 rear USBs and 4 front USBs. Plenty of connections. Could use one of them for a fourth monitor.
  9. In a recent email from the LDC, they recommended an HP ProDesk G7 or G6. Our current laptop is an i5, has 8GB. Can't remember the gen, but is from 2015. It still works well, and no problem with Zoom on the test runs. My main problem with it the the screen. Its a laptop screen 15 inch, 1366x768 resolution. Before it was ok, but with Zoom, screen real-estate is lacking. No room to have everything on the screen without overlapping. And no more ports to add an extra monitor. I want to propose we get a new one now, but we are also trying to get a refurb. But the timescale on that is unknown. It could be months away, or could be years away. Should that matter? Can only try.
  10. Since the announcement to resume in-person meetings, we have more cases of covid in our congregation than we ever had in these last two years. Infection rates are on the increase again in the UK. It takes real trust and faith in Jehovah that things will be alright when we resume.
  11. I got things set up as per the S-261. What do you share when you share screen in the hybrid meetings? When you share "Screen 2", which is what the media in on, the secondary zoom window jumps from screen 2 to the main screen, and fills the screen. It goes back when you stop the share. Its because JW Library and Zoom are both using the same screen, Zoom doesn't like it when you share the same screen. I could share the JW Library app on the main screen, but that has its own problems. I was thinking about using OBS and the VirtualCam as an alternative to screen sharing.
  12. Average of every 5 weeks. Some are 6 weeks a part, some have been 4 weeks. Another thing I like about the updates is that they are always from the GB (hence the name). But they have not delegated the updates to the helpers. The GB have been there for us providing spiritual encouragement at a time when we have needed it the most.
  13. You could use Watchtower Library or Online Library for the bible.
  14. The updates have been like a shepherding call from the GB, and a big hug from Jehovah, to keep us going.
  15. Daniel studied Jeremiahs prophecy and saw its fulfilment. Jehovah's words literally unfolded before his eyes. We today study the prophecies that he recorded, and are seeing them unfold before our eyes. Daniel never returned to their homeland. He is a great example for our older ones. Though he had hoped to return, he knew it was too late for him. But he never gave up faith. And he received many blessings from Jehovah in his old age. He received from an angel a prophecy that reaches into these very last days. A prophecy that we talk about today and are fascinated with its outworking. What a privilege! And to be personally touched by an angel of Jehovah told that you are a very precious man. Words just don't describe how marvellous that must have been. He died a very happy and very faithful man. With faith that he will live again in paradise.
  16. Was assaulted yesterday, punched 5-6 times in the head by violent neighbour. Still shaken.  Need prayers.

  17. The Daniel drama is the longest for a for many years, but there has been longer. In 1972, a drama called "How Merciful Are You", and in 1974 "The Tested Quality of Our Faith-A Cause for Praise and Honour", were both nearly 2 hours long. However I suspect the longest was one from 1960's, the very early dramas.
  18. Zoom is a commercial app with other apps competing against it, like Teams. So they are going to add more bells and whistles to make it more appealing and to draw others away from using a competitive app. It is not tailored made for our meetings, but many features do make it useful for the meetings. Often, unless many people suggesting the same thing, or they get many complaints about something, its not going to get implemented or get fixed.
  19. The pandemic is over in the UK. Or that is the impression you will get when see hundreds, even thousands, crowds of people going about like it is over. I know it is the summer holiday, and people want to get away and relax. I've noticed coastal resorts crowded more than usual this year. Its not nice. I liked it during lockdown. It was much quieter and peaceful!
  20. We have such a light at the entrance of the KH. It comes on when the first person arrives and approaches the Hall, and after the last person leaves. Also we have one in the disabled WC. My point is, if the technology works well, this new zoom feature may well prove very useful. Wait and see.
  21. Matthew to Acts may be only 5 books, but they make up over half of the Greek Scriptures. In our regular NWT, they cover about 200 pages. Whereas Romans to Revelations are less than 200 pages. Or course, the amount of study notes will vary, and that will have an affect on the next volume. But I can easily see that volume 2 will be Romans to Revelation. Or volumes 2 and 3 will be smaller volumes. A volume with the writings of Paul, Romans to Hebrews would be a good one.
  22. Oh this is going to very useful. We have ones who struggle with the digital raise hand, so raise their physical hand. With the digital raise hand, you can instantly see who wants to comment and it so easy to miss those who raise their physical hand. I do that a lot with meeting parts, and miss some hands.
