How are you affected by Colors?

Recommended Posts

In light of an insightful article on colors in our new w13 10/1, I was wondering how you all use colors in your life? In decor or dress or meal preparations or gardening...

Color is indeed a loving gift from our Creator Jehovah :flowers:

and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening..." ~ Malachi 3:16

yes, good point! your post reminds me of video in Files Library 'Time for Your Physical' I think that's the one, shows abundance of colors in vegies, fruits & legumes beautiful pic too Sharon :D thank you! looks like a garden-grown rainbow

As for colors in the garden I just love purple and yellow together... being at opposite ends of the color wheel, they are true compliments to each other. In ministry I tend to wear a lot of pink. It deflects mosquitos. also people tend to yell less when you wear pink.

That's why a lot of prisons us pink to paint the walls of the dorms. Kinder, gentler feelings. My mother always told me I look terrible in pink, so I never wore it. Later in life I started to wear it and got the most compliments, Go figure!

The one with the beard is no longer in the truth.  The rest of us are all actively serving Jehovah. :)  I am the oldest. :innocent:  The rest are younger. :lol1:

I am not into much Pink things..

I love anything that has aqua or Jade colors Like the colors of the sea. most of my décor is this color, I have found because we rent,

most of the time you can't paint a place how you like but adding this color creates a nice relaxing mood..

I posted a picture of Santorini because Ideally I love the simplistics of the whites & blue or green. & a my furniture is an in between dark natural color..

I love flowers in the house, Usually a deep velvety rose or yellow. they add a nice homey feel.

When I cook and serve I like to use a contrast of color. I've been watching some Master Chef. some stuffs a bit fluffy but I do like some of the presentation.

I also buy mostly leopard prints down that line, That's as colorful as I will get. I find anything orange or some reds or Pinks will make me tense. Anything to do with the Ocean colors is softening

Gabe Wow such beauty! thank you

agree on the relaxating feelings associated with blues & greens in decor. I too rent & add to neutral walls with complimentary colors... found it interesting in Oct WT that greens are associated with rest, slower metabolism, calm & tranquility...  so true

... our reaction to red is also explained in same article, red is associated with energy, war, and danger. It is an emotionally intense color, can enhance human metabolism, increase respiration rate, and raise blood pressure.

The calmness & tranquility we feel from blues & greens shows Jehovah's love for humans with his abundance of ocean waters, forests and grasslands, and of course the beautiful blue sky he has given us.  :boating:

years ago when preparing a paper on color in communications I recall learning that nearly all fast food places use red orange in their advertising... then I looked around at Taco Bell, KFC, McDs, Wendy's, Burger King... and realized it is true, as WT article says, it stimulates metabolism

I heard it also stimulates your appetite. We owned a breakfast/lunch restaurant and were told that red and white were the best colors for encouraging more eating.

Vernalee meant to say stimulates appetite, not metabolism... you are right, I remember reading this before, esp with fast food

Deena good point! gotta go now... off to remove red & white from my kitchen...  :eat:

I was married in a gold brocade dress with orange flowers in the pattern. It was beautiful! I used to color my hair chesnut brown and sparkling sherry mixed together. My hair was the color of an Irish setter. And in the sun did it just sparkle. It went wonderfully with my dress.

Today my two favorite colors are Tanzanite purple/blue and Russian Chrome Diopside green.

I love a putty gray/green on my walls at home. It makes my pictures on the wall pop. I hate to wear black. It make me feel like an old Italian widow who never wears anything but those mourning colors.

I look really well in red and aqua, kelly green and shades of gemstone colors. I feel good in them, too.

I wish I had a big enough house to have a beachy room Aquas and sand tones with white shells and a hint of pink, like on a Conch shell. OHHHHHH. That sounds luxurious and dreamy to me.

I like the gemstone choices you made, Chris. I love rubies and I have a lot of them in jewelry, but I never remember to put them on. What a waste! I also have a large collection of loose gemstones and I love to put them in a bowl and run them through my fingers. When I look at all those colors and the beauty of them I think of all the wonderful things Jehovah has provided us with.

Color comes into play for my secular work every day.

I do irrigation .... when we use "potable" water, we have to use "white" pipe. When we are using "reclaimed" water, we must use "purple" pipe. Also, the "spray" nozzles are color coded.

In other things, I do like a variety of colors ... like those of a beautiful sunset or sunrise.

I once knew a man that was a professional traveling artist. His main theme was "sunsets", particularly those in California over the water. After looking at many of his paintings, one day I asked him if he ever painted "sunrises" - and he was a bit surprised. He said that most people do not know the difference between a sunrise and a sunset - when it comes to paintings. We had a nice discussion of the different hues that comprise the color palette of both. He preferred sunsets and that is why he painted them ... they also sold quite well.

I like neutral colors, black, white, grey, silver (no it's not just shiny grey, there's a difference!!!) My little sister on the other hand likes "special" colors that she makes with a crayola color creator thing. Her favorite colors are "Bioshock Purple," Electric Blue," and, of course,"Paradise Pink."
