Selling Some Older Publications

Recommended Posts

I have some extra older publications for sale. If anyone is interested, please sent me message.

Only if you are willing to send the receipts to the Watchtower Society. I was amazed that someone is selling Watchtower books on Amazon! Guess that answers the question about what people won't do for the love of money.

I think you misunderstood what this post is all about, and it is NOT about the love of money. Friends all around have done the samething and I would NEVER think it is the love of money at all. Plus, the WTS have basically have no rights or control of others who sell  very old publications. With newer or new ones, yes.

I'm pretty sure we had counsel on the buying and selling of the society's publications about 5 or 6 years ago.  At the time lots of material was being bought and sold on ebay etc.  Purchasing was discouraged.

I do not know if there is direction on this or not. Personally, I am not comfortable buying our literature from anyone.  If someone had some old literature that I wanted, I would of course compensate for shipping costs and packaging materials.  Or if someone bought some old literature on Ebay or Amazon and it was something I really wanted, I would again be willing to compensate that person for what they paid for it as well as shipping costs.

I have tons of old literature myself, some from the 1940's.  I would never sell it, but I do have some duplicate stuff that I would have no problem giving away to someone who wanted it.  But to sell it, no, I don't agree with that.  My husband is actually trying to get me to donate a few things to our KH to put in the display case, just hard to do.

And many of the ones selling our literature on Amazon and Ebay, are not active witnesses.

Its a personal choice of whether you buy or sell books.  Remember that before the donation arrangement (1987 US, 1990 UK), all publications had to bought.  So if I paid for a book, then it is my choice if I sell it.  Even with books which you made a donation to cover the costs, its up to you what you do with it.  Now obtaining a bunch of books just to sell them, that would be wrong.

I've sold of some on ebay, although some of the publications selling on ebay and amazon are at greedliy high price.

I like to believe that the literature we see on Amazon or ebay are put there by worldly family members going through the belongings of loved ones who've died. What WOULD they do with Grandma's library?

It's better than throwing them away...and allows others access to out of print books.

Brother I am sorry that you BOUGHT publications. The rest of us made a recommended donation even in the UK. This donation in more cases than not not cover the printing cost. Have you ever looked up what two volume encyclopedia such as the Insight volumes costs in the book store?

Feel free to sell them. In 60+years I have never BOUGHT or SOLD a publication provided by the FS.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.
