Just signed up for JW Google Alerts... good idea or not?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to know. I originally just wanted to use Google News Alerts to keep up with my favorite bands... As a "fan" I've been really behind, haha. But getting to the site, I thought, "Why not sign up for news on Witnesses? If it's stuff from official news sites and not like a Google search, it can't have much news to avoid in it (aka apostate stuff)?" But I was wondering... Was that a good idea? Anyone have any experience with Google alerts and if it's flooded with apostate related news? The first email I got had the headlines "Writer writes book critical of Jehovah's Witnesses religion" and "You're not Jehovah" mixed in with news stories that can be found here. So I'm already cautious and questioning.

Well, from what you wrote about the email you received, it's your decision but i wouldn't. To me, it would be like taking literature from false religion just because it said "Jesus is God's son" yet what about the rest of it? Besides, you can get news about us from JW.org.

That's very true. The official source is always the best. I just like the idea of getting email alerts of new news, which was the reason I thought about adding a JW alert. I have to see if there's an RSS option on the news section on JW.org.

Yes, get your news from jw.org, then you know the source is reliable.  News stations sensationalize everything and bring Jehovah's name into things it shouldn't be involved in and all it will do is give you sleepless nights.  If you want to Google something, google : UN does away with religion!

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D
