Take a Walk

Recommended Posts

I was born and grew up on an island in P.N.G. My dad made sure I stayed fit through regular swimming sessions. Every day he would drop me off, four miles out to sea, and I would have to swim back. I didn't really mind the four mile swim, but getting out of the weighted hessian sack was a bit of a pain.

Last month, My doctor told me to walk everyday 3 miles.   I started walking 3 miles everyday.   Now I have reached 90 miles away from home.   I am thinking  to phone doctor and ask him whether I should go back home, or keep on walking, My family is worried.

A nurse asked me if I get any exercise. I told her that as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I am always walking. But she told me that's not exercise.

Actually she's right. She was quite familiar with Jehovah's Witnesses, and how we walk from door to door. But she had observed it's always a slow, relaxed walk. That's not exercise. Everybody gets that kind of "exercise." Real exercise involves intense exertion. If it doesn't work up a sweat, there's no exertion and no exercise.

However, even our slow, relaxed walk in our preaching work does lots to ward off the blues. It works great!
