Prophetic antitypes aren't as common, and not every obscure detail of every event has prophetic significance, but there are striking similarities between the cities of refuge and Christ's ransom sacrifice, so it could be said to be an antitypical relationship.

 

The November 2014 printing of the God's Love book should maintains that same understanding:

Corresponding today with those ancient cities of refuge is God’s provision, based on Christ’s ransom sacrifice, for protecting us from death for accidentally violating God’s commandment about the sanctity of life and blood. On the safe side, Jesus is our refuge because he saved others and saving us today and it the future too. The Ransom is really a gift from Jehovah. This magazine will be keep.

Humans cannot know which Bible accounts are shadows of things to come and which are not. The clearest course is this: Where the Scriptures teach that an individual, an event, or an object is typical of something else, we accept it as such. Otherwise, we ought to be reluctant to assign an antitypical application to a certain person or account if there is no specific Scriptural basis for doing so."

This is where the booklet Tabernacle Shadows of the "Better Sacrifices" comes in. Russell published that booklet and knew it inside out. Although it is old and outdated, yet it has alot types and antitypes. And down to this date it is interesting to look at it.

What I found encouraging about this March Wt. is that it includes all of the main talks from the annual meeting in which

new information was introduced. So we now have it in study form, and can look forward to covering it in our meetings.

As already mentioned in this thread, I enjoyed the question from readers about types and antitypes. This basically sum-

marized the talk Bro. Splane gave at the annual meeting. I also like the sensitive article on marring only in the Lord. Espe-

cially why this is such a test in some lands. And many of the feelings of those confronted with this issue. This can be cer-

tainkly a great test of faith for some. I well remember the younger sister of a good friend of mine in a neighboring con-

gregation. She used the well worn line: " there are no brothers here I would want to be married to. " So she married out of

the truth, to her lasting hardship. I don't know if her husband ever came into the truth. So she was left to try and raise their

children in the truth the best she could. What a sad story.

I wouldn't speak of it as a type, but certainly there is a parallel and a lesson to be learnt. We can often find practical lessons in scriptural accounts, even if they don't have any prophetic significance.
