Unable to sleep

Recommended Posts

Its 3.25 am and I am unable to sleep.

Yesterday I went and made a family conduct family study since they were missing it. Then went to two studies. Turned back home at 10.but from then I was not feeling tired and sleepy at all. Had outside good. It was vegetarian only.

Feeling little gastric and little worried that I am not able to sleep.

Pls pray for me.

Feeling embarrassed that I have this problem.

I will not prefer to have sleeping pills as I am afraid that I may get addicted to them. But street my mother's death in December I sleep very late. Not that I am worried it sad but somehow my sleeping pattern had changed. Doing pioneering this month. This sleep problem makes me miss out my work too.

Pls pray for me.

Dilip something that is helping me sleep ( I've had problems for years ). A warm shower or bath before bed. Lavender essential oil I use drops either in a diffuser or on my pillow. A pitch black room ( helps melatonin be produced in the brain ) magnesium glycinate as it is the most absorbable and it calms muscles. A regular bedtime as much as possible. Listen to some of the Kingdom songs after you pray and hopefully some of these suggestions will help.

To help with acidic stomach every morning squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon into water that is hot from a kettle add some stevia or honey so it's not bitter and your body will be alkaline to start the day. Try not to eat after dinner.

dilip, I recall reading an article, that said you should not be operating your computer, or anything electronic, just before retiring for the night. Your brain needs time to unwind, and those things do require a lot of neural

activity. I have found that reading something for a half hour or so, is quite relaxing. Just don't over think it, just make a plan. You might have to try 2-3 different methods, but your brain will get accustomed to the new pattern, if you don't worry about it. Humans are creatures of habit, and breaking a good sleep habit is tough.

Dilip, I've had a hard time sleeping since age 5. I remember asking dad to leave the door open a little bit (I don't like the dark) and I always prefered to have someone else bumping around the house making noise- doing dishes, cooking, washing laundry etc. (I think that's why I love having houseguests now)

Now when I have a long night I don't fight it. I figure I must not be sleepy enough so I'll get up and do something. I found that fretting and worry only make it worse. And when I get up I'm really productive! I'll get so much done, including paperwork! Anyone who knows me knows I RUN from paperwork!

So dear brother, get up and do something. Make a cup of tea, read the material for the next meeting or a good book. Do something for your wife, maybe do one of her chores so she can have relief, that would be really loving. Don't fight the inability to sleep, just think how good you'll sleep the next night!! And follow the other sisters' advice- nice bath, melatonin, no electronics, magnesium- an epsom salt bath is another good way for magnesium I'm told.

G'day Dilip,

In defence of sleeping pills: don't discount the benefits of the appropriate use of sleeping pills. Your mind and body need sleep. Lack of sleep can compound emotional problems. So, taking a sedative to help you sleep occasionally is not a problem. Studies show that REM sleep is affected by sleeping pills, but that's not an issue unless you take large doses or continue for long periods.

Routine is essential for good sleep. What you do in the few hours leading to going to bed is important. As others have suggested, avoid watching TV, bright lights and using computers/tablets before bed.

Also, I have read studies that suggest activity in the visual cortex hinders sleep. That fits in with light stimulation, but it also includes visualisation. One study I read specifically suggests we avoid visualisation techniques to help us sleep. Instead, become aware of the physical feelings you have. Feelings of tiredness, and of comfort. Think of your breathing, how comfortable your bed is, how tired you feel. Speak to yourself (yawn) gently. Don't visualise though.

These things work for me as a shift worker. I don't take sleeping pills or any kind of sedative, but I can fall asleep within 10 minutes of going to bed, no matter the time.

Another technique I heard someone using if they could not get to sleep, was to stand at the end of the bed and read a book they have read before. Something simple. As soon as you get sleepy, gently hop into bed.

I hope you find some relief soon Brother. I will mention you in my prayers.

Thank you all dear sis and bro,

When I read all your posts, I nearly gave in to tears.

Your love is heavy for me. Thank you.

Was thinking to meet you on the 5 th day after armagedon. Since first two days would be party time. The next two would be sleeping time ( a time to rest), so fifth day for you all dear ones. But if we are all at one place.

I was finally able to doze off at 4. This is very rare.

What actually worried me was the thought that if I don't sleep I may go insane.

Because once my mother (at a relative's house) didn't sleep for 15 days and she was talking rubbish there. She had psychiatric issues.

But in my case I was happy and serving jah contently.

Now I need to confess to you all. Pls don't put up faces.

Yesterday, after we returned from the study, I was happy and since we had already finished dinner, we just sat to relax. My wife took the wt and I took candy crush game and kept playing. I think that took my sleep away. Also I was on the Internet.

Now today when my loving wife is going to read this post she will be like the picture below ( Pls take it as fun ) and I would be

( it says in hindi- you are always on what's up uh)

But I would surely avoid and would put up a routine for some good things.

Love you all.

Prayers were (and will be) useful.

So, Dilip, you're suffering from a medical issue called CCII (Candy Crush Induced Insomnia). CCII is a subset of another general condition called AA (App Addiction) or SPIW (Smart-Phone Induced Weakness).

An effective treatment for SPIW is PIP (Persevere In Prayer), though tests have indicated that having WCP (Wife Confiscate Phone) 2 hours before bed also works.
