Because of the letter submitted to Iran from US Congress, there is now a petition being signed for them to be charged for treason. This could get very ugly. The 47 members of congress that signed the letter warning Iran that they would try to revolk the peace deal made with President Obama and other world leaders is a huge problem. Now many feel that this move is an act of treason against the president. It is not legal for congress to go to these lengths to stop an international relations deal and has never been done before. John Kerry states that he has never seen anything like this before in the history of foreign relations. John Kerry is going forward with the meeting for the peace deal with Iran and world leaders through the UN leaving the congress out (the president is not allowing our congress to have a say or part of this deal but he is having the UN in the middle of everything)...we should watch this situation. Wouldn't it be something if they actually did charge them with treason and that would leave us in a peculiar state never before seen.

A petition holds no legal weight whatsoever, let alone the kind of power it would take to charge even one individual with treason.

Case in point, there was a well supported petition for the US Government to build a Star Wars-style Death Star. Suffice to say, the White House turned down that request. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/response/isnt-petition-response-youre-looking

The Death Star is a funny petition, I'm not surprised it didn't go anywhere...I think it has to do with the seriousness of the issue and who is impacted, such as all of the U.S. and other countries in this situation with the 47 congressmen. Something about petitions:

There are Election petitions, and complaint petitions, there is also a legal petition.

This shows that there have been significant legal changes from simple petitions, and the amount of signatures for them to pass has already been exceeded by this petition for the congress to be charged within five days.

No one knows where this will go yet, it is just unprecedented in history and something to watch and see. The one thing that is clear is that our government is quickly becoming more and more clear that they are not United and that it is not working and this is supposed to be "the strongest world power". Really????

Well, the government of the US may be exposing more and more of their "clay and iron" makeup, but that is not "OUR" government. As far as I know, there are no "congressmen" in the Kingdom arrangement - MY government.
