Extremely slow JW-library on iPad

The JW-library app is extremely slow on my iPad. When I first open it, it takes forever until you can select the bible or something else. It is so slow that I don't even want to use it in service. It would be embarrassing.

And even after that, it it takes a long time to switch between the bible and the different publications.

What could be the reason for that?

On our other iPad it is a lot quicker. Big difference.

Does anyone else gave this issue?

I had the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy 310. I had to re-calibrate the battery and now it is working good. I did the same thing on an Asus tablet and it didn't help at all. But worth a try. After a while the tablets I have used get slow and then I have to get another one. Usually every 3 to 4 years, but I use my tablets every day.

You could also "root" your tablet to get rid of bloat wear. Not for the faint of heart. Then again ipads don't have external storage, if my "memory" :exclamation: serves me correctly.

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

Your memory serves you well!  Big drawback for me for buying an ipad.

How much memory does your ipad have?

I still have 18.8 GB available.

It is only this app I have trouble with. Everything else works great.

It's so annoying since one of the main reasons I bought this iPad was for the ministry.

I know nothing about Apple devices, nor which particular iPad you have, but I have found that sometimes there is some truth to uninstalling and reinstalling the app when things are running a bit kooky.

I might try that. Thanks.

I know someone who had a ton of trouble with ipad - first and second generation with the JW Library app and finally, they couldn't update it anymore. She ditched them and got an ipad mini and now has no problems. That app (JW Lib) has grown leaps and bounds since we first got it, some devices just didn't have the OS to keep up (I had to get a new cellphone because of it).

Reminds me of a BBC video clip. "My Blackberry is not working"

"My apple is not working either" "When did you get it?" "Last week!" "Last week, that is old, there have been 2 more apples since then" :bouncing:

It's the iPad mini. And it is updated to iOS 8.3.

Everything is ok on the iPad Air.

The iPad mini is based on the slower 32-bit, A5 chip and has only 512mb of ram.  This is due to the lack of the Retina screen on this model.  The iPad Air however, has the 64-bit A7 chip with a M7 co-processor and 1gb ram (ram is different from storage).  The JW app is really an excellent piece of software that can do a lot with scripture look up, opening scriptures while reading bible study material, the KM and so forth, along with the ability to view videos through the iPad system and music as well.  So based on that it will run a little different (slower) than it would on an iPad Air.  One of the things that may help is to close any other open apps that may be running in the background and clearing the Safari cache (weird I know).  It will run on the iPad Mini, just not as well as it would on the iPad Air. I compared my older iPad 4 with my new iPad Air 2 and their is a significant difference with all apps on how smooth they run.  Also, the option of uninstalling and reinstalling the app may help too.  Hope this helps you.  And yes, I am the "Tech Guy" in the congregation that everyone calls when the have a computer or tablet issue!
