I'm the only JW in a family. Everyone else is devoute catholics.

I received a text from sister in law how family is getting together this Sunday (father's day) for a special mass because it's also the anniversary of my dad's death. She's an hours drive north of my home, and wants me to drive mom to their church and then take her to some restaurant after for a memorial meal for dad, and then take photos. Then said its not really a celebration.

Yeah right I thought. Heard all that before.

Fortunately our convention is thus wkend, So I politely declined her offer indicating I'd be going there instead.

She continued asking...could I leave it early to drop mom off by 2pm. Its just some food, photos, and no celebration.

I said how about this: do dinner and photos next weekend (not a holiday) and this weekend how about all of you coming with me to the convention?

Silence! and I haven't heard back from her since

LOL Good come back. But thats about it isnt it? They want you to bend your beliefs for them but they won't bend to allow for you. Funny how that works isn't it?

That is what the UN describes as problem in JW divided households. The non witness members want witnesses to do all the compromising.
