U.K.: Bomb may have brought down Russian jet

Concerns that a Russian airliner that crashed over the weekend was brought down by a bomb prompted the British government to suspend flights Wednesday to and from Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

 

"We have concluded there is a significant possibility that the crash was caused by an explosive device on board the aircraft," British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said Wednesday night after a meeting of the government’s crisis committee about the crash that killed all 224 onboard.

British Prime Minister David Cameron warned against vacations or other non-essential travel to Egypt's Sharm el-Sheik airport, where the Russian Metrojet flight originated.

So glad they made it back safe Chris! I thing I heard on NPR that ISIS took responsibility for the bomb? Has anyone else heard what the motive would be for this? Course, any more, the only motive people seem to have for things like this is to kill as many people as possible (same motive as Satan)!

Shali. ISIS would target that plane because it was going to Russia. Russia recently involved itself in Syria to prop up Assad and has been bombing rebels and ISIS

Thanks, sounds like that would be a message then to Russia stop supporting Assad and as usual, non of the people involved in making those decisions were harmed - only the innocent who had nothing to do with it.

Of course, they now tell us about the near-miss with an Egyptian missile n August as a plane approached Sharm. It wasn't a terrorist act, so no need to tell anyone!

I think my daughter mght have changed her plans if she had known about it, but then, that would have been bad for Egyptian tourism!
