Anyone interested in e-books? This guy I know has 100's to pick from at .50 a piece, if you want the list, pm me and I'll send it to you.

I bought (free, of course) for my kindle. But found the stories were not written very well. Like they were written as an assignment, not with much feeling. No depth of plot, which spoils the read if you can tell where the story is headed.

Even though 50 cents sounds like a good price, you mention "this guy I know" - so, is he licensed to sell those books, duly registered with whomever he needs to be so that the correct royalty is being paid to the author and anyone else due some of the money - or is he just profiting from his collection selling what amounts to pirated copies?

I read e-books using my library account from the US. I have even requested many books and the library has ordered some of them. I prefer physical books, but since I don't have access to them down here, I am very glad to be able to read books in English. I am just about to finish "Water to the Angels" by Les Standiford. It's about how Mulholland built the Los Angeles aqueduct.

I also listen to Audio eBooks through our Public Library.

 

They offer a large catalog of titles using an app/program called OverDrive - it checks the books out to your library account, allows you to download it and tracks how long you have had it. When the checkout time has been reached the app let's you know it is time to "return" the title and will not continue to play it. It also removes it from your computer when it is returned.

We don't have to pay overdue fines even if we check out paper books. Our library did away with those fines about 30 years ago. :)

 

However, our library is supported in the property tax assessments :(
