Hot Dogs

Recommended Posts

Two dogsled races are currently being run in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan:

The U.P. 200 and The Midnight Run.

It is almost 60 degrees here, right now, which is wonderful for us humans,

but disastrous for the sled dogs.

Imagine trying to run the Boston Marathon while wearing a heavy winter parka.

These dogs are designed to operate at full tilt in below zero weather.

The race vets are extremely concerned that this fluky heat wave will have seriously

affect the dogs' health.Sigh.gif

I hope it all goes well. Yes serious.gif

Both races began last night.  The Midnight Run ended today, but the U.P. 200

is still going until tomorrow sometime.

The State Police were stopping cars to allow the dogsleds to cross the highway, when I drove into the

meeting this morning.

The U.P. 200 has a winner, already.
