Cost for a Heart Operation

 Yesterday I talk to my neighbor who had an heart operation. He got the bill and here is the cost of it, the total was $130,000, and he broken down: Here it goes:

 

1. 10 days in the hospital                      $27,000

2. Operation                                               $26,000         

3. Work done before the operation  $15,000

4. Pharmacy                                               $14,000

5. Operator                                                 $10,600 - Plus he did 4 operations that day, so he probably made $50,000 that same day.

6, Anesthesia                                               $7,000

7. Medical Supplies                                  $7,000

8. Lab                                                             $5,000

9. Ex-Rays                                                     $2,000

Total =                                                      $113,000

 

 So, how about the other $17,000.? In my case is would be filling my veins with chocolate.

Looks like the hospital billing cost. If it is covered under the Medicare program Medicare will cover it for about 1/5 to 1/3 that sum with little or no cost to the patient.

$130,000 seems cheap, especially since they actually did surgery.

 

I was recently treated with the Cyberknife. It is not "surgery", it is radiation and the total billed came to a little over $253,000
