Half the Anglican Cathedrals in England Could Close Due To Funding Crisis.

They also talk about Cathedrals that charge for admission. Are they talking about tourism, or actual door fees?

I think they are talking about tourism. I don't think cathedrals operate 'normal' weekly services and even if they did, I can't see them raising much that way with numbers of churchgoers the way they are. 

I was in Exeter in August/September last year and the cathedral there charges an admission fee (no I didn't go in, I had to walk past the door to get where I was going :upsidedown:) but I don't think they are making much. The whole place seemed to be held together with scaffolding outside.

Is it a corkage fee?
