What about our brothers in Catalonia?

Today the catalonian parliament declared the independence of the Republic of Catalonia from Spain. Are there news about our brothers there? Is there any pressure on their neutrality? (voting, support one side or another, etc)

Thank you for your interest, brother Pavlos. The brothers in Catalonia are ok.

 

In the last weeks there have been street protests and confrontations between people and the police, but no serious violence so far. It seems that secessionist leaders will go to prison and likely there will be more protests and riots, but no one thinks it will escalate to a war.

 

Of course there is social pressure on both sides: Pressure in Catalonia where most people support the independence, and pressure in the rest of Spain where most people are against it. Last week all congregations received a letter from the branch encouraging us to keep strict neutrality in our discussions and even in our hearts. But apart from that there has been no persecution or problems whatsoever, and we don't expect the situation to get worse.
