There are numerous studies that show portions (about 80% methane produced) of the methane is eaten by methane eating microorganism called archaea, these microorganism use this methane for energy. So the bubbles that come up hardly has any methane according to the studies conducted.

It is unlikely that enough methane is released right now so that global temperatures rise by a few degrees. But as the Arctic sea ice decreases and northern hemisphere gets warmer, more methane will release overtime. So the more and faster it warms the more methane it will release and the more it will warm.

 

After the first BOE (whenever that happens), it will warm real fast and methane release will increase. There is significant evidence that suggest the possibility of runaway methane emissions after the first BOE. This will create havoc in our lives no doubt.

Yes, research “Arctic Methane Time Bomb”/Clathrate Gun”. I posted a link to this story a few weeks ago on this thread. Troubling stuff.

It’s a result of warming oceans resulting from air pollutants (Co2, methane, etc). Manmade, not naturally occurring
