Christian jukebox (good clean music to listen to)

Recommended Posts

Another great Supertramp song that you have to listen to with stereo headphones. From 1974, from the album Crime of the Century the song "Dreamer". Just a masterpiece of music! Great ending to the song.

And wept when it was all done
For bein' done too soon "-Neil Diamond

Another song that has to be heard with stereo headphones, I recall hearing this with headphones about 50 years ago. I was just blown away by what I was hearing. Jimi Hendrix performs the classic Bob Dylan song All Along the Watchtower, that he made his own in 1968.

I wonder if you would like these songs by Yao Si Ting (a singer from China who is not a native English speaker) Sweet voice though like Teresa Teng)

Spoiler

Captivating voice though and it's nice to hear her when one is having the blues. Well, that's life. Nevertheless, the sun will come peeking from behind the clouds. Oh, by the way my name means Peace Clouds. There is a dark cloud overhead  at the moment. ☺️

It is said that a exceptional musician is able to play the same song in variations. One of those artists in Mark Lizotte, otherwise known as Johnny Diesel in his younger years, and later just as Diesel. I have seen him live when he was younger self, but haven't been able to see him later on, but I do have many albums of his, studio and live. Apparently, his cousin and uncle and aunt where witnesses, but I have no idea if they are still are, as it have been some 30 years since I last heard from them.

Here some variations of him playing Cryin' Shame, firstly the original song that he recorded as Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. Then later as himself playing at his brothers music venue called "Lizottes" (now called Flamingos Live") and later at another venue called Vanguard, where he plays it acoustically.

When classic rock and bluegrass we get "Can't let Go" by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. In the second video we get to hear the songwriter Randy Weeks performing his own song.

Peter Frampton & The Doobie Brothers, two of my favorite performers growing up in the 70s. You couldn't turn on a radio without hearing their music. Tom Johnston of the Doobies in my opinion is a very underrated guitarist. The Gibson Les Paul, “Phenix" that Frampton is playing has a cool story. It was originally thought to be lost forever after a plane crash in Venezuela,  South America 1980. This was the guitar he used to record Frampton Comes Alive! But unknown to Frampton the guitar survived and he got it back in 2011.

This cover band from Australia has been called the greatest cover band on earth. Here they cover the classic heartbreak song “I don’t want to talk about it” by Rod Stewart. What I like about this band is they keep the integrity of the original song yet make the song their own.

In the early 1970's you couldn't turn on a radio and not hear a Lobo song. This was the first single that Roland LaVoie, aka Lobo released in 1971. The first time I heard this song I was at the roller rink Olympia, Washington skating. For the most part I learned all my music choices that would make up my library from the roller rink. To this day if I hear a song I like, I will say that would make a good skating song! Lobo had some really good songs. It was such a different time for music in the late 60s and 70s.

From the year 1970, Blues Image performs their only hit "Ride Captain Ride". This was a time period when 45rpm records ruled. The local roller rink I learned to skate at in Olympia had tons of them! This is a great song, my only complaint is the outro guitar part should have been a lot longer. But the idea was to keep your songs under 3 minutes. Even great songs such as "25 or 6 to 4", "Light My Fire" and "All Right Now" were cut down.

There was so much music that radio stations would not play, until FM radio became more prevalent. FM got most of it's traction in the 60s. In the middle 70s program directors got more control over what they would play. It was not uncommon for radio stations to play the entire album.

In my younger days, I used to be a band photographer for cover bands. I got to hear a lot of covers of different songs. Some were better than the original performers as most would put their own spin on a song while trying to maintain the original sound.

This is a great cover by a band out of Chicago. I like the presentation and the singers unique voice adds to the great cover. In my younger days too, I was a skater (ice, hockey and roller) and this would have been a great song to skate to!

I heard this great country song today while at the local thrift store in our area. It's from 1992. I like country music but don't listen to a lot of the genre.

Another great song from 1975 by Head East. I got to see them live before the original band broke up in 1979 when they opened up for Heart in 1979 in Seattle. They were okay live, not great. Poor choice of song selection and the keyboardist talked way too much.
