Fitness Past 50:

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.

Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

I asked my husband several months ago if he thought my legs were getting longer. He looked at me seriously and asked why I would think something like that. I told him it was because I could not longer bend over and pick up things that I have dropped but I needed to squat down to do so....

I know what you mean, I tried walking to lose weight, but I found I was walking to the ice cream parlor.

So I tried jogging, but didn't like it because it made the ice cubes jump out of my cocktails.

HAHAHA! I thought to myself, this might just work! Until I got to the bottom line! I onetime would go the the gym and work out, then I treated myself to an ice cream cone afterwards. DIDN'T WORK!
