(Moderator: you're welcome to move this if it doesn't belong here. I was thinking about possible comments when I put it here...)

It does sound more ominous than it is:

Their recent tax-code rewrite requires churches, hospitals, colleges, orchestras and other historically tax-exempt organizations to begin paying a 21 percent tax on some types of fringe benefits they provide their employees.

It isn't even clear if the will have to pay on any of the "some" mentioned in the article.

The main benefits affected are transportation-related, like free parking in a lot or a garage and subway and bus passes. It also targets meals provided to workers and, in some circumstances, may affect gym memberships.

It looks like it pretty much just applies to churches that have employees with benefits. I don't think that applies to Jehovah's organization. It's coming tho.

Exactly. NOT Jehovah's organization! False religion! She has to be destroyed after the declaration of peace and security.

It seems like a small amount - but it is the precedent they are setting that religious leaders are concerned over. The Republicans managed to slip this into the new tax code - and no one complained. Hmmmm...
