Greece fire kills 49

Greece is not immune to forest fires in summer.  But just like everywhere else, climate and weather is becoming more extreme causing more ferocious fires and other disasters.  This one is particularly bad.  Victims were close to the ocean, but did not make it.  So sad.

 

Emergency crews found one group of 26 victims, some of them children, lying close together in a field just 30 metres from the sea near Mati in eastern Greece... more than 700 people had been evacuated by sea by the coast guard.

That footage is incredible and terrifying.............those poor people. Intense heat and then fire on top the worst.

Reading how some who perished were found still clutching one another...ugh. Made me think of those from Pompeii and how some of them were found that way too. Just sad.

Hello everyone and thanks for your interest. It's a tragedy, a kind of shock, something that we can't imagine. At the moment 81 persons have killed, 187 are injured and an undefined number of people are missing. Although some families of brothers abandoned their houses, it's good that nobody of them have lost their life.. at the moment.

Thanks again and please add also those families in your prayers with those who are suffering now worldwide.
