So many loaded logging trucks going all directions around here. Fortunately, we really don’t hear of too many accidents.

But this one could have ended a whole lot different if the guy was just driving a car. 😳😳😳😳😳😳

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - A driver escaped injury after an oncoming logging truck lost its load on the roadway in front of him, striking his vehicle.

It happened Monday at 3:10 p.m. on CR 550 near Eagle Nest Rd.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, the logging truck, owned by a McInerney Logging Company and driven by 22-year-old Corey McInerney of Escanaba, was headed southbound when the rear pup trailers malfunctioned, releasing the load.

A pickup truck, driven by 49-year-old Randall Bullock of Big Bay, was driving northbound when Bullock saw the truck leaning and begin to lose its load.

Bullock tried to stop, but was unable to avoid falling logs, and drove on top of a few, with other logs hitting the front of his truck.

Bullock was uninjured, but his truck was substantially damaged and was towed from the scene.

McInerney was able to stop his truck and return to load the spilled logs back onto the trailer.

McInerney was cited for an insecure load.

County Road 550 was temporarily reduced to one lane for about an hour during cleanup and the investigation.
