Dearest brother David,

I am so glad that you have a possible resolution to your problem with your kidneys. And even more glad that you have been able to cling to life even though being so depressed. AND I am JOYFUL that Jehovah drew you back to His organization. I too, was gone for many years (18). I also suffer from depression and was suicidal during many times in my life. The thing that always kept me from going through with it was seeing my parents' faces when they thought I had done it. I always kept in mind the pain and suffering I would have caused them... I couldn't see leaving them with that amount of pain for the rest of their lives. That one single thought kept me clinging to life - even when I couldn't face waking up and being conscious. Hang in there, dear brother! We need you!

David,

I am so glad they found what seems to be a problem and I pray that you will have successful surgery. We are all so imperfect and with so many problems, we really need God's Kingdom to straighten everything out!

!

Terrible things hit us at times and we have no idea about it. A few years back my husband began having very strange symptoms. He would be very dizzy, his pupils would be very dialated, he would feel like he was totally losing control, pacing the floor like a wild caged animal. We went everywhere to find the answers but none could be found. It was suggested that we go to an allergist who found through the RAST test that he was extremely allergic to 3 things-foremost of which was POTATOES! We at first scoffed at that since he had eaten potatoes all his life but this continued until we began try it out see if we could replicate it. Sure enough! that was IT. The allergist said that this was a cerebral allergy. He said the reason he went into this field was the number of people who are affected unknowingly. He made the statement that he felt the biggest majority of people in mental hospitals are there because of cerebral allergies. We had to be careful of everything he ate because of hidden potato starch, etc. It took many years but he overcame it and was fine. A very BIG learning experience

Oh dear. I never heard of such a thing. Of all things to be allergic to. I am glad I don't suffer from an allergy to potatoes. I have them daily--they are so versatile. I am sure he has not minded giving them up since he feels so much better but does he miss them?

Thankful to be among friends everyday!

He gave them up totally for years but little by little he would try to eat a bite or two with no effect. Now he can eat them with no problem. In a class I went to, learned that stress causes allergies and at that time in his life, he was under tremendous stress, so as the stress let off, so did his allergy. My 20 yo daughter experienced this same thing. She was allergic to sooo many things but at that time she was under lots of stress. Gradually as the stress got better, so did the allergies. Our bodies are so wonderfully made but life in this old system messes us up many times. Yes, he missed them terribly and so did I because I hated to eat them in front of him knowing how much he loved them!!(<img src=)'>

O my goodness! I am a registered nurse and have not heard of allergies caused by stress! As so many of our brothers and sisters have said before, only Jehovah knows what the heart condition is when someone has depression and/or mental illness. A sister many years ago suffered from postpartum depression - she had a beautiful baby, a son and husband in the truth - and what appeared to be many things to live for - especially a new system free from all illnesses and diseases, but still took her own life. I was devastated, but the elders helped me to understand that only Jehovah judges and decides whether that person will be resurrected in the new system. It is not up to us to speculate. Jehovah is "righteous and upright" - Deut. 32:4.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragements...As I had mentioned before I was going to be hospitalized for some days and right now I am recovering from the kidney operation. This is however stage one...they removed the malignant tumor in both my kidneys...however only after 3-4 month will I have the definite results as to whether I am cancer free. Then stage two will start, because my kidneys do not work properly, certain hormones are not produced and not all the toxic waste is removed from my blood...all this causes an emotional instability. And they haven't found the cause yet.

However the fact that I have knowledge of this is of great benefit to me...

While I was in the hospital I was thinking of this scripture in Matthew 9:12:

“Persons in health do not need a physician, but the ailing do." and than Jesus continuous in 13 "For I came to call, not righteous people, but sinners".

It really makes your spirit humble...

Your brother

David

I'll have to go ahead and disagree with your comment '-not even Jehovah'.....being in a state of deep dark depression myself at a point in my life I made one last call and it was to Jehovah..that was 3 1/2 years ago. I'm thankfull for the way He looks after his sheep

I can't imagine what he was thinking.

He was in extreme emotional pain. I had been suicidal for many years as a youth and after having my youngest child. The pain is exquisite and intense. It feels as if nothing can fix it. Unfortunately in the moment - not even Jehovah.

I don't think she was implying that Jehovah cannot fix it - after all, all things are possible with Jehovah, even trying circumstances (Matthew 14:36, 1 Corinthians 10:13). She said "it feels as if nothing can fix it." I know I too have been in some low points in my life where I felt nothing, not even God, could help me (of course, what I felt was wrong).

Hugs to Benson and anyone else suffering from depression. I have clinical depression but never to the point of suicidal thoughts. Still it's hard to deal with. My husband is cheerful all the time and they never truly can understand how it makes you feel and feel that you can just snap out of it. Earnest prayer to Jehovah does make one feel better and surprisingly in my case when I stay on a low carb diet, no white bread or sugar, I become more cheerful. So maybe that would help someone else too.

Welcome Shirley! Your first post ---> :welcome:

Same here. Simple carbs are the devil's food :devil2:

I slip into them bad eating habits for months at a time, and then when I straighten up and cut out the junk carbs, I feel like a million bucks.
