When in Rome

Visitors to Rome soon notice how many of its streets and alleyways are paved with cobblestones. They're very much part of the fabric of the historic heart of the city. But while the tourists may admire them, many Romans are far from keen.

A local newspaper recently put it like this: "Only the tourists and the angels love the cobblestones unconditionally. The rest of us, those who have the stones under our feet or under our wheels every day, detest them, or fear them... or admire them from a distance."

I was one of those tourists ..took more interest in them, then posing for the photo LOL ...LOL ....LOL

Hoping to go to Rome on vacation in Sept. Jehovah willing.   Doing a bit of a side trip to Palma area { actually Bardi} where my Berni grandparents came from.  Anyone been there?

Also any hints on accommodation , transport etc.  Travelling from New Zealand via Australia as going with my son and d/in/law {reg Pioneer} . Anyone travelling to NZ can have free bed at my place in New Plymouth.  Can have accommodation in Sept - Oct.  while I'm away.  Have hosted friends from USA, Sth Africa, Holland, etc

The tourists didn’t even have to pay for the drinking water, which was both surprising and awesome.
