Thanks Br. Peter.  I played around with the [view>grouping] feature until I found that I wanted to group by "categories".  I think I have it now.

If you noticed - I use Drag n File Gold and have since win 3.1 days. The version I have was last updated Dec 2001 so it would work with XP.

At the time I got it it was 50 bucks and you downloaded to span 2 floppies ( 3.5" ). Just kept updating it.

 

There are no more updates. Didn't work very well with VISTA but win 7 worked better esp in xp mode. Works great in win 10.

 

Put it on all my machines- not only a file manager, but has built in zipper, allows rename/redate files, copy/move files - to last folder used or you choose.

Change attributes, etc. all in under 3Mb program.

I just did the update yesterday and it threw my colors and such off.  It added the 'short-cut" arrows back on my icons and so on.  It took an hour to put most of it back the way I had it before.  I just couldn't remember how to change the order and appearance of the folder file listing.  I think it is OK now.  Thanks for your interest.
