Have you ever felt like humans are like machines in a way?

Have you ever felt like humans are like machines?

- Machines that are made of blood and flesh, that can love and be loved...

But they also do many things according to instinct. Instinct that was preprogrammed by someone, in this case, Jehovah.

They do or say things almost automatically, without much thinking about what or why they are doing what they are doing.

People marry and people tend to worship, too. (Just that they choose the object poorly)

Humans are very advanced machines and because of this, it's easy to be out of order and that is why we see so many physical, mental illnesses tormenting people...

(Pls understand that I'm not saying humans are really machines..)

I'd say it is the other way around.  There are many things about us that we mimic.  The brain is a CPU and storage unit all in one. The eye is the best optics for auto focus. Etc....

Sometimes, Life gets so routine it feels mechanical. On one side we are described as creatures of habit. On the other side sometimes we don't like doing the same things over and over again and get sick and tired of the same old same old.

The world can makes us feel like we are just a number. Just a small cog in the big machine.

Ask this question again in the New system. Me...waiting for the real life to come.

The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah

Dictionary definition:

1. an apparatus using mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.

Perhaps we could be called a biological 'machine'. Many parts to perform a task. But I feel the difference is our being made in God's image is what elevates us. I would feel comfortable calling an animal a 'machine' as it has limited 'free will' (pure instinct really), but we can do so much.

Paul once said: "the man we are outside is wasting away, certainly the man we are inside is being renewed from day to day..." (In a sense we could say 'body' and 'spirit'.)

I sometimes feel a distinction between what I can do and what I would like to do. Sometimes it might even be a war...

And it is the body (the machine) v the inner person (the spirit).

Sometimes I wonder about people severely handicapped (Steven Hawkins). Their machine is broke, but the person lives on...

I had the unenviable experience of visiting one of our young ones in the congregation that was hospitalised after a serious motorbike accident. Sadly, the machine (his body on life support) was functioning, but the personality was gone (no brain activity).

It must have been the worst day of the parents life when they held him in their arms and turned off 'the machine.' My heart pains just thinking about it. I cry as I write this. So sad.

But now back to reality. I have to get this machine out of bed. Another day in the ministry awaits. Then we are having a roast dinner on Sunday. (Both parts of me are lookin forward to that!)

So it's not all bad...
