"Unprecedented" floods in Russia's Irkutsk Region

Days of torrential rains swelled rivers flooding a vast area in Russia. It has so far claimed 18 lives. There are still many missing.

 

Many houses were swept away like small matchboxes and those left standing were covered with water up to the roofs. It is said that water rose up to 4 m in some areas. 

 

By the way, these are the second "unprecedented" floods this year. The first one happened in Iran and some parts of Central Asia earlier in the year.

People are going to this bridge to see if they can spot their homes.  

 

That bridge must have been really well built for it to hold up under all that flood debris.
