Proper English to Trinidadian English Translation

Recommended Posts

OK let me clarify, I meant everyday questions of sayings we may say or ask, example; Hi how are you doing?

Sentences like those Lynn are from the bible and are said exactly like it is, so it is really hard to Translate in to Trinidadian English.

But keep them coming.

Couldn't resist trying the same phrases in Cumbrian:

Cumbrian versions of the above:

Want to go for a game of football?

Thoo up fer footy?

Did you try the (...) at the get together last Sunday?

Thoo had a ga at the scran at the 'do' Sunday-afore?

What time are you going in service tomorrow?

When's thoo garn oot on God's Wuk the morrow?

I'm going to have a chat on the phone with my buddy in Cleator Moor

Ars gan 'ev crack on t'phone wi' mi marra from t'Moor

I'm going skinny dipping in the creek

Ars gittin me clouts off fer a dunk in t'beck

One of my co-workers made me mad, so I had to give her a piece of my mind

Yan ev the wuk marras got mi mad up, ars 'havin' it oot' wi' lasso -she'll be furrit!

If you understand this then you are ready to come on ministry with me on the Woodhouse (pronounced 'Wuddus' here) Estate in our town!!
