Dutch scientists recently released this study. They argue that the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation will collapse much earlier than anticipated (if nothing is done about emissions). The irony is that if that happens, Northwestern Europe will experience winters that are way colder. While the rest of the world will keep getting hotter...

The article concludes:
"To limit the risk of AMOC weakening and a potential collapse in the foreseeable future, global society needs to be on track of a low-emission scenario (i.e., SSP1-1.9 and SSP1-2.6) and urgent climate action is needed to guarantee this."
