Went on a Walk-about

Recommended Posts

Hubby took me on a walk-about around our farm today.  He wanted me to take some pictures to share with family and friends.

First stop: the grapevine growing up one of our 70 foot silos

It only has another 50 to 60 feet to go.

Next, the only apple tree on our entire farm with any apples on it.  Though it isn't very big, it has about five 5-gallon buckets of fruit on it.

Then there was the little maple tree wrapping itself around a big elm.

Lending new meaning to the term 'tree hugger'. :D

Finally, there was the weird fungus growing on a big maple tree.

All that neat stuff just in our own farmyard. :D

What’s in the silos?

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

They used to contain alfalfa and corn silage.  We are retired from dairy farming and just make hay to sell for other people's cattle and horses.

So all four silos are now empty.

I can’t imagine how much work all of that would be!  I wouldn’t mind having an orchard though. 😊

Finally, there was the weird fungus growing on a big maple tree.

It is eatable mushroom Laetíporus sulphúreus.

They call it also chicken of the woods, chicken mushroom or  crab-of-the-woods.

Wow!  Thanks for identifying our fungus, Sister Svetlana! ❤️

Now it's time to whip up a batch and see what all the fuss is about! Many people consider chicken of the woods to be a delicacy, with their meaty texture and flavor reminiscent of lemon and chicken.

How funny that folks think it tastes like chicken!  1060954117_Laughinghahahahahahahsign.gif.a472bab104788935ac2671517e97ae30.gif
