Ethiopian Civil War/Conflict

I don't think there was a topic about this conflict yet. Basically, the tribal tensions are at an all-time high in this East African country. According to a BBC article (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-55023029) the Ethiopian PM has given the representatives of the rebel state 72 hours to wave the white flag. The conflict is already the reason for a wave of refugees from Northern Ethiopia into neighboring Sudan, and if the military forces indeed go ahead with the strike, this could mean thousands (more) will soon be killed.

 

While I haven't exactly paid much attention to the situation in Ethiopia in recent years (I last visited there in 2013), the political situation has long been flammable to say the least. TLDR; For a long time representatives from the Amhara and Tigray tribes were high up in the ranking order. The current prime minister hails from the Oromo tribe, I understand--a tribe that surpasses Amharans and Tigrayans by millions in number--but also a tribe whose members have long felt ignored when it comes to politics in the country.

 

Just very worried about our brothers up in the conflict area. It's a tough, tough territory with Orthodox Christianity running the show; up in the Tigray region (approx. population 5 million) there were a few years ago only a couple of congregations and three or four groups. On the other side of the long-closed northern border (it seems like the current PM got his Nobel Peace Prize for getting Ethiopia and Eritrea to negotiate with each other) is Erirea, and we all know how our brothers are "treated" there.

 

Feel so unreal to see these pictures and read articles when they might soon bomb the city where I gained friends and even attended a regional convention (was it still called district convention?) at a local Kingdom Hall back in 2011.

 

Let's keep our Ethiopian brothers and sisters in our prayers. Neutrality is vital in all parts of the world. Come, Lord Jesus!

Oh my, I had to stop reading half way through.  Those poor people. We all need Jehovah to step in and stop this madness. People of this system are insane.
