Need help with pdfs

Every time I try to open a pdf my tablet tries to open with JW library. Yes I've already tried going to settings,etc. I've uninstalled JW library, tried opening in chrome instead of firefox. I'm so look frustrated!!! Please help! Also I'm not sure if posted this in the right place.

Sr. Marissa, What operating system do you use (Windows, Android, Ipad or something else)? Do you have a dedicated PDF reader app or program installed (like Adobe, Documents, etc)?  By the way, welcome to the JW Talk family...🙂

This sound like an Android problem. I have helped a sister resolve this issue in the past. It's an odd problem that occurs for some. I don't know why this happens. What usually resolves the problem is resetting all app defaults. Here's a website with instructions on how to do this. https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-reset-default-apps-in-android/

 

Resetting all app preferences fixed the problem for the sister's Android tablet. Resetting preferences for a single app didn't work.

Hi Mari ~ Another thing that might work is to install this fantastic pdf/epub reader. Then when you open a file it should give you 2 options..choose this one..(also..open from "my files"/Downloads.)

i am having a similar problem but now with pdfs. JW library seems to be the default app forr opening files that do not have apps associated with them. so it looks like you have no pdf viewer/

Don't be surprised if it happens again. I posted about this a few months ago. Followed steps given, resolved issue and a couple weeks later it started doing it again. I have now "fixed" the issue several times and haven't quite figured out what triggers it to go back to trying to open in jw library.
