I was searching Google this morning for my scriptures bookmark - that I erased and came upon this link...

Imitate Jesus Example of Watchfulness Has anyone anyone copy material from the Watchtower like this before???

Sis

Wow. Actually, I've heard of preachers doing this. Some use the WT to develop their sermons (I talked to one in service who said he did that!)

To bad you can't comment in a singsong voice, "I know where you got that! I can take you directly to the PDF file!"

I am sure the copywright doesn't matter in Nigeria though.

At least they left Jehovah's name in the article.

Yes.

I was reading the year book of 2004, in the democratic republic of congo.

You know that they were creating religions using the watchtower?

There was even a group that write in their church whatchtower.

The missionaroies had alot of work to correct it.

Probably not. They are helping us to spread the good news. I know a story from our former CO. One of the pastors uses our weekly wt study in his parish.

Won't the Society claim copyright on it?

Modesty is not something we can simply define in a way that suits us.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Only way they can claim copyright is if they were making a profit on the article.

No Micah, even if you are not making money at least you have to give credit to watchtower, ny stating in the end that it was taken from a watchtower, awake or so on.

There was a article of a awake that explaned it.

But personally I think its a waist of time going after then they are alot. Here one day my aunt wanted to copy the song book to be used in their church, I said no but she may have talked to a brother I got it.

So its just the good news being spread.

I guess it doesn't matter where His sheep hear the message, He can tell how their heart is responding to it. Maybe the circumstances are such that this is the only way they could ever get even a piece of the Truth. I have heard of people coming into the Truth from finding a tract in the garbage.

What I like about this is that Intelligent people will know where they heard it first!!:detective:

Let my words, like vegetables, be tender and sweet, for tomorrow these words, I may have to eat~

Well, it absolutely would have been correct and polite if they would have given credit to the WT, so, strictly speaking, a report or a claim would be justified.

On the other hand, our kingdom message is really fruitful in Africa and the article is uncensored and did not change/remove the name Jehovah (as Brenda already mentioned). Any publicity for Jehovah's name and true biblical teachings won't do any harm to His beautiful organization. so I think our beloved brothers at Brooklyn can live with that :shifty: (Mat. 10:8b "...YOU received free, give free" )

This just reminded me of the account with Moses and the 70 older men:

26 Now there were two of the men remaining in the camp. The name of the one was El′dad, and the name of the other was Me′dad. And the spirit began to settle down upon them, as they were among those written down, but they had not gone out to the tent. So they proceeded to act as prophets in the camp. 27 And a young man went running and reporting to Moses and saying: “El′dad and Me′dad are acting as prophets in the camp!” 28 Then Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses from his young manhood on, responded and said: “My lord Moses, restrain them!” 29 However, Moses said to him: “Are you feeling jealous for me? No, I wish that all of Jehovah’s people were prophets, because Jehovah would put his spirit upon them!

I wish ALL the religious magazines would quote our articles and provide them for their members (<img src=)'>

note: as long as they don't "edit" them :tsk:

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Agreed Jerry... It's just a shame they won't give the credit where it belongs. It's disrespectful, intellectual theft, and illegal. Just give the credit...
