Friday, May 7

Satan . . . is misleading the entire inhabited earth.—Rev. 12:9.

A major way in which Satan and the demons try to mislead people is through spiritism. Those who practice spiritism claim to know or control things that humans cannot normally know or control. For example, some claim to be able to know the future by using divination or astrology. Others may act as though they were speaking to those who have died. Some practice witchcraft or magic, and they may try to cast a spell on another person. A survey conducted in 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean found that about a third of the people surveyed believe in magic, witchcraft, or sorcery, and nearly as many believe that it is possible to communicate with spirits. Another survey was conducted in 18 countries in Africa. There, on average, more than half of the people surveyed say that they believe in witchcraft. Of course, wherever we live, we must be on guard against spiritism. w19.04 20-21 ¶3-4

I would think the most insidious way Satan misleads people is through ignorance. By turning it into a game and making it seem fun, young ones are easily sucked into the dangers of spiritism without them knowing the true dangers of what they are inviting into their lives.

The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah

I think like Vinnie has said , here we don't have people believing it in the way that it is in some parts of the world , but children games and TV programs are full of it , Satan slyly uses entertainment and innocent fun to entice young ones.

Programs are so full of seemingly innocent reference to magic and the occult , celebrations like Halloween have suddenly become very popular here , Satan is really pushing all things evil and making them entertaining.

That last sentence is nice.

"Of course, wherever we live, we must be on guard against spiritism.

Recognise the sings of spiritism:

- People will" claim to know or control things that humans cannot normally know or control."

- People will "claim to be able to know the future by using divination or astrology."

- People "may act as though they were speaking to those who have died."

Satan likes to get them young... hence lots of things, books... games etc are aimed at children or young adults, along with that comes tremendous peer pressure to be the same, to read the same books...

Our young ones are to be commended in standing strong against Satan as well.

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.
