Is the JWPub inbox activated immediately/automatically when you become a ministerial servant?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine who is a MS, asked me to help him get his jwpub inbox to work.

Mine works fine, but I can't remember how or when the inbox started to work back when I became an MS.

So, I guess the question is: When you become a MS are there specific actions you should take to get the inbox to work, or does it work automatically using your jwpub credentials?

Are you referring to the "jwpub" email inbox?   Can he login to the JW.ORG website for appointed brothers?

Correct, I'm referring to that one.

Yes, he can login already.

Login and the screen should show a variety of options available (varies with the assigned duties).  On my  screen, the list to the left side ends in the menu item "login in to inbox".  when you go there, it has instructions if it is set up.  It also has a large block of FAQs like "How do I set up my Inbox?"

I would start there.

I would assume a communication with your congregation administrators. Mine is my cobe and secretary. They could inform the person based on their specific privileges of service and responsibilities.

"there was Jehovah’s word for him, and it went on to say to him: “What is your business here, E·lijah?" To this (Elijah) he said: “I have been absolutely jealous for Jehovah the God of armies"- 1 Kings 19:9, 10 Reference Bible

I did inform him of this arrangement. But if it is something simple that I can help him with then it's no problem. But if we really don't manage to figure it out, then he will have to approach one of the administrators. Thank you for the reminder. 👍🏽

If he has a jw.org account and it is linked to the congregation, then he doesn't need to do anything. His account access will change when the administrators update his status. If he doesn't see any changes in his JW.org account after being appointed, then he should talk to the cobe or secretary.

Yes, this proved to be true. The only thing that had to be done to set it up or get the inbox to open, was to choose the preferred language and choose his time zone. After pressing save, the inbox opened. So, he is good to go now.

My JW Account was successfully linked to my new congregation domain after moving but the status has not been updated. I talked to the COBE and Secretary but they mentioned it's a case that has to be handled by the local branch computer desk. Would this necessitate creating a new account?

I had to talk to the secretary of the congregation to get mine set up.  I was an MS for about 3 years but the COBE wanted me to send something to the branch. They wanted to use the JWPUB address and mine wasn't working.  The secretary of the congregation had to call the branch to find out what the problem was.  I was told that my account was not connected to the congregation.  I asked if my online donations were going to the right congregation and was told that they were.  (I hope so because I have given thousands of dollars over the past few years,)  The secretary had to connect me to the congregation so that I could complete the setup.  It seems to be working fine now.
