"JW News" Subscription

Recommended Posts

Brothers, does anyone else have this problem when trying to subscribe to JW News? I click the subscribe button and this black page with white letters of a code language appears. In this case I tried it on my smartphone, I haven't tried it on my computer yet.

That's standard. What you want to do is take the URL....

https://www.jw.org/en/news/jw/rss/NewsSubsectionRSSFeed/feed.xml

... and enter it into your favorite newsreader app, site, or program, such as Feedly...

You need to use RSS subscription services. The URL itself can not be used on it’s own.

Quote

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS

RSS (RDF Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) is a web feed that allows users and applications to access updates to websites in a standardized, computer-readable format. Subscribing to RSS feeds can allow a user to keep track of many different websites in a single news aggregator, which constantly monitor sites for new content, removing the need for the user to manually check them. News aggregators (or "RSS readers") can be built into a browser, installed on a desktop computer, or installed on a mobile device.

There’re many services online that claims to support RSS feeds online. I use Feeder.co. You can also subscribe to What’s New section of JW.ORG, and you need to use this link and put it into RSS subscription services:

JWPUBS™ RSS Subscription Library

NEW RELEASE

The new RSS Subscription Library is now available, replacing the legacy Media Subscription tool released in June 2024. Unlike its predecessor—which focused primarily on media feeds—this updated library offers a comprehensive range of subscription options for various types of content. Subscribers can receive automatic notifications whenever new releases or updates become available, without needing to manually visit the website.

Broader Range of Content

  • Publications: Books, brochures, and other printed materials.

  • Media: Audio and video recordings.

  • Applications: App updates such as the library app.

  • Periodicals: Magazines and meeting workbooks.

There are now more than 400 different RSS feeds to choose from. Each feed can be subscribed to individually, making it possible to receive notifications for specific items rather than subscribing to an entire category.

How It Works

  1. Select an RSS Reader or Podcast App
An RSS reader (such as Feedly or Feeder) or a podcast app (such as Apple Podcasts or YouTube Music) can be used to manage subscriptions.

  2. Locate the RSS Feed Links
Choose the feeds of interest from the RSS Subscription Library. Copy the specific feed URLs for the categories or individual items that need updates.

  3. Add the Feeds to the Reader
Paste the copied feed links into the chosen RSS reader or podcast app. The application will periodically check for new content and deliver notifications whenever updates are detected.

  4. Stay Informed
Receive alerts automatically, which helps save time and ensures that new releases or updates are not missed.

Key Advantages

  • Automatic Notifications
Notifications arrive as soon as updated content is published, eliminating the need for constant manual checks on the website.

  • Personalized Subscriptions
Subscribing to a broad selection or just one item provides complete control over the type and volume of notifications received.

  • Convenient Access
RSS readers and podcast apps offer multi-device support, making it easy to stay updated on smartphones, tablets, or computers.

  • Time-Saving
Immediate notifications about new releases allow for quicker engagement with updated content.

Additional Resources

Comprehensive instructions on using the RSS Subscription Library—including details on how to use the tool and how to use the RSS feed URLs—are provided at: www.jwpubs.org/tools/subscription.

Sections titled “How To Use This Tool” and “How to Subscribe and Stay Updated” contain practical information and tips on getting the most out of RSS subscriptions.

If you have any questions or comments, please message me via DM. Feedback is always welcome and helps improve the experience.

I hope this new library will be helpful for publishers who want to be notified when there are new updates and releases.
